I was in the process of cleaning off (dusting) my miniatures and decided to re-try taking pictures. Turns out if I use the kitchen table in the afternoon the sunlight is very bright and the pictures turn out MUCH better.
I've broken the pics up into 3 sets; the fantasy set is waiting for me to photograph my dragons (which are some of my best overall work)

Enjoy. |

Some good stuff. Though I would prefer you just had the images in your thread rather than me having to go over to flicker It's much more fun to click on a thread and "BAM! STARSHIPS!" rather than "oh, just a link? boo!".
Though what's with the gravel on the Romulan bases? Asteroids? Seems a bit odd.
You should post this stuff over at www.star-ranger.com . Most of the people are just posting up Full Thrust fleets it seems so would be nice to get a big back of Star Fleet Universe stuff there. |

I don't like the way the bases looked when assembled so I put some model railroad ballast down to hid the seam. Some of the ships I haven't don the bases yet but will get to them eventually.
As for putting them in the post: there's a lot of pictures to put up and I didn't feel like taking the time. |

I like the 40k decals better than the other ones.
And my Marine boarding parties are tougher than yours. |

I tried that system (including their "pro" version) and it's not usable by us mini people. Save your money.
It's really geared to car and airplane modelers. It can't handle super-tiny little decal art like we need. The software itself is also mainly a clip-art manager for their included set of stock decal graphics (all huge and pretty much useless for SFU ships).
I did end up doing my own decals, and I did use their decal paper for some of it. The paper works fine - it's their software that is lacking.
What worked best for me (and other folks I've traded with) is to do your own art in a proper graphics program (there are several free programs on the web that can do the job) and have it color laser printed onto clear decal paper. Then coat that printed sheet with clear-coat (the Testor's stuff in the DecalGear kit works fine, but all it really is is clear glass acyclic which you can get much cheaper at a hobby or arts and crafts store). _________________

I have tried that product, and there are easier better ways to do you own decals.
EDIT: In fact, I'd be willing to give what's left of mine to the first person to offer to pay the shipping costs, but you could probably buy a full set from your local hobby shop for about the same amount of money.
A good, high-quality graphics program, a good laser printer, and some decals paper and you're good to go.
EDIT #2: Will cross-posted with me... _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro
