Come off it Mark, that's got be the simplest build that I've ever done. I'd have thought that even you could manage a build like that.
The next build will be of one of new DD's. The basic hull is very simple to do,but the bridge pod will be a little bit of a challenge. I'll try and see if I can come up with a simpler version that will yield more consistant results. _________________ Federal Republic of Aurora fleet builder.

Yeah, but it's when you get to the detailing bits that I start to glue tiny pieces of plasticard or rod to my fingers instead of the mini!
Hence my envy of your patience! _________________ C'mon the Orions!

Patience???????Me??? That station build was only around 40 mins total, and that was because I was stopping to take pics.
Don't get me wrong, they're not all as easy or as quick as that, just wait until we get to the cruisers.
There are also my long scratchbuilds, that took over 2 weeks to do,but I can't show them here, though they are ships, but of the wet navy type. _________________ Federal Republic of Aurora fleet builder.

Yes, patience, as in having it when working with the small fiddly bits!
You know how much I love your scratchbuilds, especially having seen them in person, so I look forward to see what you come up with next.
Loved the Strike Carrier and DD builds, very nice! _________________ C'mon the Orions!

Work has started on the DN,I've built the main hull, but I've still to do all the detail work on her.I can't put up pics as yet, because I'm not in my own house today. This thing is huge, easily twice the volume of the BC,it's going to look really imposing once it's been finished. _________________ Federal Republic of Aurora fleet builder.

Right then, just so that we're clear, this will be the ONLY model of the DN that I'm going to build.
I've tried to take step-by-step pics of the build so far,and although I think it looks good,it's seriously overscale, maybe that's why even Dominators don't like it. The three tubes in the last pic,are just to show the relative positions of the warp engines, which are kindly being supplied by Tony.
If this beast ever made it into range 0-1 with everything loaded to the max,the damage that she can kick out is devastating. Let's see now,112 pts of damage from Photons alone;an average of 65 pts from PH-1's and 32pts from PH-3's,not counting any damage from TM's or SS's,for a total of around 209pts of damage on an alpha strike.
Anyway,here's some pics.

Lookin' good, David.
Warp engines went in the mail ealry last week. Not sure of transit times from US to Scotland, but hopefully it won't be too long. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Thanks for that Tony,I think that she's ended up being just a tad bigger than I had planned, but when you look at the SSD,perhaps not. _________________ Federal Republic of Aurora fleet builder.

Do you have a 2400 Dominator mini on hand to compare it to, by any chance?
(And no, I'm not asking you to scratch-build one if you don't!) _________________ FC Omega Discussion (v3)

Sorry Nerroth, but I don't own any Andromedan ships. If you have one,can you post a pic of it alongside say a Fed CA,then I'll be able to tell you how she stacks up. Even better if you can put it alongside a Fed DN,then we'll know. _________________ Federal Republic of Aurora fleet builder.

I hope it's okay, I went and took size comparison pictures of the Dominator/Fed DN:

Good grief, she looks like the DN's at least the length of the Dom. I was always under the impression that the Dom was bigger than that.
Here's a better view vs a Fed DN.

I think the Dominator is a bit undersized due to the production cost of the mini.
Kinda like the Juggernaut. Doing one in scale would be prohibitively expensive, so the actual sale is fudged. I tend to think of the Juggernaut as being done in SB scale... not SFB scale. Maybe the Dominator is a similar case??? _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro
