It looks like I have been playing under the assumption that a shield that has been completely destroyed CANNOT be regenerated during the Energy Allocation phase.
After reading the rules again, it says ANY shield can be regenerated at two energy per box.
Is this correct? A shield that has lost all of its boxes CAN be regenerated? |

Yes - and note that a downed shield can up to 5 points rotated into it from an adjacent shield. So it would no longer be down anyway. |

Although, that 2 points per box really adds up quickly... unless you are an Orion and can double your engine output (but even that causes other problems).
Quite often, you're better off rotating 5 boxes from an adjacent shield and then if you still have batteries, using that 2 points to reinforce against an incoming volley. That way, you stop two damage points for two energy, rather than one damage for two energy.
Additionally, judicious use of repairs can mitigate damage as well. Even a frigate gets two repair points a turn... that can be used to repair 2 hull boxes; and while it won;t help on a 1 or 6 roll on the DAC - it can provide some additional padding (a 7th shield - if you like) on the middle rows. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro
