I just got an FCOL account. E-mail me at eric@ericphillips.info if you want to set up a game.

I am just waiting for the billing to be applied to my account. Hopefully shortly (I kinda screwed it up).

Mr. Franz, can you fix it if you have a chance?

I only have the demo version, but I'd love to play. PM the timezone and we can figure a workable time.

I am in the ET timezone. Perhaps in the evening, 6pm or so?

ET timezone is GMT - 5. (I am assuming your GST is our GMT.)

EDIT: Wait a minute! You can't possibly be serious about GMT+4, can you!? If so, your English language skills are superb!

Yeah, Pinecone is right. I'm GMT-5. That's the East Coast of the United States. Early June I return to California, which is Pacific Time, or GMT-8.

Where is GMT+4?

To be more clear, I'm in New York

I meant GMT when I wrote GST.

And sorry for the confusion.

Where is GMT+4?

Iran!

If you are in New York, then you are in ET, or the Eastern Time Zone.

So, I am gonna assume that you meant to write GMT - 4, not GMT + 4, which actually works. The reason is that you are in the Eastern Time Zone, but you are currently under Daylight Savings time. Daylight Savings time effectively pushes you "east" one time zone, so, while you are technically in GMT - 5, you have the effect of GMT - 4.

Confused? Good, because time zones and daylight savings time SUCK! Sad It gets even worse when you have to deal with countries outside your own (because daylight savings time starts and ends at different times), or with countries on the opposite side of the equator (where daylight savings time is reversed). It can even get a bit messy in the US, because Arizona and some county in Indiana don't use Daylight Savings Time.

In the future, just remember you are in the US Eastern Time zone. (The abbreviation is ET. You can also see EST [Eastern Standard Time] or EDT [Eastern Daylight Time], depending on whether you are in Daylight Savings Time or not.) Then let the other person figure out how that fits with them. Very Happy

Also, all those times are set relative to Greenwich Mean Time (thus GMT).

They had to pick someplace to be the place everything other time-zone is relative to, and in 1884 Greenwich, England got the honor (since it is also the location of the "Prime Meridian").

So if your time zone is GMT-5, that means you are five hours behind the time in Greenwich, GMT+3 would be three hours ahead.

Went about 10 years without wearing a watch ---

Working in a sealed building with at least 10 clocks all with different times, has a tendency to make you stop worrying about what your little timepiece says ---

Then everyone that plays online can set their computer clock to GMT so they have a common reference to their allies and opponents ---

Okay, I am GMT-5 right now. I can play from 18:00 to 23:00 (maybe a little later).

June I am GMT-8, and available 18:00 to 23:00 local time as well. Just drop a line.

Iran! So I was a little off Wink .

Ericphillips: So I assume your 18:00 is my 5:00 or 7:00 PM (could someone verify, please?). That should work. Name a date and mabey we can get rolling.

pinecone, it sounds like (for now) you're both in the same time zone, so his 1800 is your 6 pm. When he goes back to California, his 1800 will be 9 pm your time.
