I don't have a size specified. Something sufficiently large. Suggestions?
I am waiting to put together the map until I find out how many of the Admirals who showed interest send me their empire selections. It will probably be something symetrical surrounding a central point.
Right now I have only heard from terryoc and pinecone, although I need a verification of pinecone's selections.
The deadline is Wednesday, so please send me your selections soon. |

I need to know the size of the map for resolving battles before I can select my races (i.e. plasma hates big maps). |

Well, as I say I am open to suggestions on this point (and indeed most any points). Since the fleet battles could get pretty big and because I don't know if I want wall pinning to be a major tactic, larger then tourny size seems resonable, but I could see how floating maps could be an issue.
Ummm... perhaps twice as large as a normal map? That would be 84x60. |

DoggieMon, you can join either as a Admiral or a Captain. I have you down as an Admiral, but if you are concerned about the time commitment or any other element of Admiralship, then you are welcome as a Captain. |

Under FC rules, plasma must be played on at least a location map - can't be played on a fixed map. Probably fairest to declare it a location map for all battles. Not too bad for plasma (you can chase them into a corner), but not too good for it either (as a regular SFB map would be, given that there's no weasels). _________________ "Captain" Terry O'Carroll, fourteen papers published including six best of issue

Ok, I can dig it. Let's use the standard FC location map. That should be enough space for the fleets. |

I have heard from:
Dread_Lord
pinecone (although if you could answer my question about your choices that would be good)
Sir_Krotar
terryoc
but I haven't heard from:
Andromedan
Tugger
DoggieMon
If the folks that I haven't heard from still want to play as an Admiral, I am going to be really busy at work until Friday, so if you can get back to me before midnight on Friday that would be cool. Otherwise you guys are welcome to play as a Captain.
For reference my email is hillpe at comcast dot net |

Ok, we have all the bids in! DoggieMon asked to play as a Captain.
So we have the following empires and point totals:
Dread_Lord Gorn 2000 (Sir_Krotar can verify my honesty - the password is pat)
tugger Hydran 1944
Andromedan Selt 1900
pinecone Fed 1755
Sir_Krotar Orion 1990
terryoc Kzinti 1800
So for the next week and half we should build our fleets. I'm willing to push it out to two weeks if folks need the time (building a fleet is pretty important). So let's try to have the fleets emailed to me by the 28th, although it would be best to hold off sending it until I send you mine with a password (so that I can't see your fleet ahead of time)
I will work on the map this weekend, but just so that everyone knows their neighbours and they can pick good ships, I randomly rolled starting positions. The map will look a bit like a wheel, with the six empires surrounding a central neutral zone. So you will have two direct neighbours. So from 12 o'clock around clockwise the order will be:
pinecone
Sir_Krotar
Andromedan
Dread_Lord
terryoc
tugger
So graphically it will look something like (did my best to show it):
__pc
tu___SK
toc__And
__DL
You will have four planets - one home and three minor (a bit larger then last campaign's due to larger numbers of players) and you can divide them as you see fit (also different from previous campaigns) but every ship must start on a planet. There are no rules about fleet composition (other then the command ratings - which reminds me I need to get a full list of them for the chosen empires) but use some digression. |

Oh, and one other thing I am considering is this rule:
"During a battle, once a ship has been reduced to half of it's starting hit locations, it is considered to be crippled. Tactical repairs during a battle will restore the function of the repaired systems, but will not remove the ship's crippled status after the battle." |

How are fighters damaged or killed repaired/replaced?
If that is in the module with the Hyrans, then I will be picking that up later this weekend.
