I will always argue against things I believe that would affect the integrity of the game. I will always argue to correct mistakes that I think should be corrected.
However, below that threshold there are lots of things I think work better one way than another, but will work either way. In that case, more than just the issue at hand needs to be considered. I consider precedent to be a very important factor in that case. I think the ordering of steps in the Speed Change Phase definitely fall into this category, not "integrity of the game".
By using the order on the MITS cards, it allows for the possibility of a person accelerating, then declaring ED after that. While I am not thrilled with that order, it does work and doesn't break anything in the game. Plus, the person trying to play those "mind-games" has appreciably disadvantaged themselves to play the mind-game (they have spent the power for acceleration and it doesn't count toward the reinforcement pool).
So, making this change does not harm the game, yet still maintains the precedent given. _________________
