Has anyone ever played around with making minitures for gameplay out of the Hallmark ornaments?
Are they too big or too small?
I see them on ebay from time to time at a good price and was just wondering. |

Too big for my gaming table. They're about 4-5 times the size of a typical ADB mini. _________________

Most of them have lights inside, etc., which drives their size up above what I personally find useful. Some things (like Borg cubes, for someone who wanted to go off and do their own TNG thing) certainly could benefit from the "presence" an oversize representation would give. _________________

I have the Galileo... the Voyager... and the Defiant. They are each in the 5 to 6 inch long range; so they are quite a bit larger than the Starline minis are. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

One year they did make a small three-peice set that included the original Enterprise, the BOP, and something elese...can't recall what it was off hand. The BOP would make a nice x-frigate, but the others were too small. _________________

Slightly off-topic, but what about the Star Trek Micro Machines? Each is about 2-3 inches long.

A while ago, I remember getting one as a kid with the Enterprise, a Klingon D7, and a Romulan War Eagle. I don't know how rare they are nowadays, though. |

I am using the micro mini's now. The Fed CA as a CA as it is only slightly bigger than the usual mini, the Romulan War Eagle as a Vulture dreadnaught due to the size and the Klingon D7 as a C7 due to the size and the fact that it doesnt have a boom engine like the C8 or C9. They are relatively inexpensive on ebay. I count them as part of my collection rather than actual playing mini's.
I fixed up the "Burger King Star Trek movie" ship models as mini's but I cant use them 'cause malleman said if I did, he would step on them. |

I have a large collection of MicoMachines and used them as minis for a while. I eventually wanted to have better and more varied paint jobs, which led me to "real" minis. _________________

I want to make sure I didn't unintentionally insult.
Please note that I put "real" in quotes to indicate that 'real' is in the eye of the beholder (not to indicate that I think only ADB minis are valid).
There's nothing wrong with MicoMachines, or FASA minis, or whatever, as long as it does the job.
Scoutdad uses BBQ rocks for his Jindarians. Whatever works. _________________

I was just "ribbin' you. I knew what you meant.
The mini's I use in play are all ADB.
I like to see how our community finds uses for other models as mini's.
Like the keychains, micro-mini's, Burger King prizes, stuff like that.
The keychain mini's was neat to see. I am still trying to find some.
Thats why I asked about the Hallmark ornaments.
I bought some Furuta models but they are too big to use as mini's; however, they look nice on my computer desk.
I am not sure about the BBQ rocks though. Whenever you would smell the sauce, you would know that scoutdad was setting you up for an ambush. |

Furuta made some smaller scale minis. They're volume 3. Though the TMP Big E might be the only useable one. The Excelsior is too small and the others are a bit too big (Grissom, etc). _________________ O.G. OPTIMUS

HaHaHa!
Actually, I bought a whole new set of "grillin' Rocks" for use as Jindos. They've never see nthe insode of a grill, so they are still stealthy...
Not Orion stealthy... but stealthy none the less. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

The Enterprise-D.
Maybe if you were into conjectural Federation PFs, you could have be the Mustang and one the Thunderbolt.
