No; actually the first one looks like the second one! My apologies… I replaced the first graphic on my web site with the second, forgetting that I had a reference to the same place in the earlier post. The difference between the two is that the first showed a straight white cross with the red dot at the center. The second is more of a Maltese cross.
Please keep in mind that the finished insignia will be about ¼ inch across. If there is too much detail, it can look muddled.
(As an example, you can look at the Federation banners on my diplomatic cruiser. It looked mighty cool at 2 inches, but kinda funky at tiny starship scale.) _________________ Those who can, paint.

I think the rims of each circle should be red instead of black, and the red 'arrows' are more like thin triangles in the CL25 art... _________________ FC Omega Discussion (v3)

May I make another suggestion? Would it be possible to make the Klingon trefoils and scripts on the decals smaller? The size they are seem a bit too big to me.
The size of the trefoil asthey are now would look good on the underside of the big D series, C series and B10 hulls, but they could be about 50% smaller for the upper wing trefoils and scripts.

I don't think that would be a problem... I was thinking the same thing. I'll post a message when I've finished them.
Also, new this week:
Four new Kzinti strips on white decal film:
BB, DN, CBH, CVS, TT
CA/CM
DDWs
Multi-colored, multi-width stripes (for frigates or other ships)
I've added several new photos to the gallery, including one of battlecruisers with battle damage and field repairs. These can be found here:

Thanks!

I drew both Fire Sqd. markings today. The problem I have is they were done in autoCAD. Can you read an autoCAD .dwg file? I'm trying to get "paint" to work, to change the file into a .gif or other graphic file.
They are in color.

Thanks, Charles!
I won't be able to read a .dwg file; a GIF would be best (JPEG would also work, but would be a bigger file, and lossy).

If I might make a suggestion, png files are pretty common nowadays. That format (the open-format successor to gif) can do everything gif can, plus a lot more, at a much-smaller file size. I use png exclusively for any "block-shaded" images, or images with transparency. _________________

It took me a minute, but I found the actual Lyran symbol file used in CL25 and will send the Fire Squadron jpg to someone if they want it or if they know how to upload it here. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Here's the fire squadron insignia Steve Cole supplied:
I've added it to the Lyran decal set; we're ready to go...
Thanks!

In my exuberance to satisfy your Lyran's requirements, one detail slipped my mind... the white background. The Lyrans are currently printed on clear decal film, which means the "white" field will actually be transparent. I could print this strip on white film, but that requires trimming the decal right up to the image edge. It is devilishly hard to cut out curved decals on white film. One alternative would be to paint a white background on the ship, where the insignia will be applied. This may not be "canon," but will solve the problem, at least until I get my ALPS printer.
Thanks!

Do you want the marking from the fleet box art? I've got the drawing into a .bmp now. I could email it to you if you want it.

Hi Charles!
The question is, do you want it? From my perspective, I'm happy to produce whatever decals that you, the consumer, wants (send me the image, my email address is on my profile). If it's different than the one Seve gave me, even if it's your own design, I can make it for you.
Going forward, if anyone needs a specific insignia they've seen in an ADB publication, let me know, and I'll pass it on to Steve. I don't mean to speak for him, but he probably has better things to do than be bombarded by requests for images, and then track them down and send them out. I'll be happy to act as a single point of contact and share the results with the group.
Thanks!

I am a river to my people.
Seriously, I put all such email requests into a folder and spend two hours on every Wednesday doing as many requests as I can in that time. It's just part of my job. No problemo. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander
