Here's some of my Federation ships:

Destroyer Escort USS Halsey, NCC-595

Heavy Cruiser USS Constitution, NCC-1700

Heavy Cruiser USS Defiance, NCC-1717

My take on the USS Hood after returning to the Fleet and being reintroduced into service - post scenario "The Mighty Hood Goes Down".

Scout USS Bridger, NCC-591

Thanks! I'm using AK Interactive's Dark Brown Wash for Green Vehicles. It's a great enamel-based product for use over acrylics.

Just some snap shots of one of the several Cloaked Fed DN's I picked up.

Please excuse my horribly amautureish picture taking. I just got a digital camera for the first time. Can't find any stores that carry 35mm anymore. Crying or Very sad

wow, see what happens when you can't find your glasses?

Here's pics of the last two ships I finished in 2011. I know, nothing original, and all you guys came before me doing kitbashes...

A Command Cruiser kitbash of USS Balson. I've got the other three ships in the Balson-Class already sitting on the workbench waiting their turn for finishing. I make my own decals for the Ship's Name and Warp Pylon Flush Vents, etc whenever I can't find one already done.

And I'm doing these Franz Joseph-style Escort Frigates to go with my Balson-Class Command Cruisers. USS Balson's escort is USS Victory, NCC-880. With USS Victory, I just lopped off the Neck at the point where the primary hull would separate and sanded it flat. It makes a nice point for drilling a mount hole, and provides a bit of additional engineering space for mounting a rear arc Phaser.

Very nice work, Jim! I remember years ago realizing that a plastic CA saucer could fit into the DN engineering hull like that. I used the model to represent the Fed BC before the official mini was released. Got the idea from the cover of the Captain's Log with the USS Australia on it.

Cool minis Cool Cool Cool Cool

Jim I just ordered some of that wash. How are you applying it? Are you putting the decals on first?

Actually, I apply this wash before the gloss and decaling. Caution: I use acrylics for painting the mini. You don't need a protective coat to use an enamel wash like AK Interactive's product before using it unless you pick out details in enamel paint. When you go to remove the excess wash, you'll remove those enamel painted details too.

I also apply the "Rust Ring" with MiG Pigments right after the wash is done, and before the gloss for decals. I shoot between 15-18psi, so no Pigment gets lost.
