|
|
In a standard duel, the player with the weaker ship is given points equal to the difference in point value. So, a player with a 50-point ship fighting a 60-point ship would begin the game with 10 victory points.
Now what happens if it's a three-player 1-on-1-on-1 game? Does the system still apply, or is that stretching it a bit because it was designed for two-player [or two-side, anyway] games?
So if Player A has an 80-point ship, Player B has a 70-pointer, and Player C has a 60-point one, does B get 10 points but C get 30 points (the sum of all ships bigger than his)?
Interesting.....
It does look, though, as if the points system IS intended to be used for more than two antagonistic sides; I cite (8B2b) where it describes how to split victory points between two players scoring damage on a third opponent.
However this too is slightly ambiguous in its phrasing. It says that we should "...divide the points for [various damage] by the number of points of internal damage each player scored."
If you take this literally you will end up with only fractional points. If each player scores 20 points of damage scored on an Orion CR (100 points) each will get 10% - 10 points - but divide it by 20 points... you get the idea. Should it not say that the points are divided up in proportion to the number of points scored by each player?
The reason I'm asking all this is that I am devising a scenario for three or more players and it is going to be important (the rule, that is, not the scenario) _________________

You get the difference between your ship value and the value of the largest opponent, not all of the opponents.
So, in your 80, 70, 60 case, I would say the 80 person gets zero. The 70 person gets 10, and the 60 person gets 20. _________________

That's cool, Mike. thanks very much
What about the other rule, about shared damage points? Was my assumption correct? _________________

Sorry missed the last point.
Yes, it is intended that the victory points be allocated proportionally according to the damage done. _________________
