edit:
Mike beat me to it - but he's got the essentials correct.
The DISCUS format provides several features that ADB use on a regular basis to monitor the BBS. Without DISCUS - though options go away and since it's ADB's board and they're paying the bill - they get to choose what software they use.
It's only clunky at first. After a while, you'll be zipping around it like the rest of us... and there's always this php forum for the newcomers. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Discus is just as modern as PHP, and vastly more powerful. It does things PHP cannot dream of doing. PHP is not more advanced, or more modern, it's just more common because it's free. It's vastly less capable of doing things. PHP simply cannot do things that Discus does. PHP is the McDonald's of BBS software, while Discus is Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. So, no, we never have and never will think of moving SFB to a less capable PHP board. Coming to this one every day makes me laugh about how clunky, inefficient, silly, and powerless this PHP forum is. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander
