Has there ever been a Federation oFF or oDD? Thought I saw somewhere, can't remember where that the POL was basically an oFF. |

The Police Frigate in SFB Module R8 adds a third warp nacelle to the POL, and is part of the "heavy police ship" category of units yet to be imported to FC (with the exception of the Lyran/LDR Military Police Frigate).
The warp-refitted Terran fleet shown in the Y-modules for SFB included a number of re-purposed Iron Crown (now Metal Express) miniatures, which served alongside the old WCL and the pre-POL WDD. (Other MX minis were used for the five pre-ISC planetary fleets, which served prior to the onset of the unified ISC Navy and Police.)
However, most of those older hulls were incapable of being upgraded to more powerful warp drives, so were gradually decommissioned prior to the "modern" era. (Even the Earth National Guard phased them out in favour of saucer-and-nacelle ships passed down from the Y-era Star Fleet, as also shown in Module R8.) The old light cruiser was rugged enough to allow it to continue service as the Texas-class CL, while the POL was designed on the template used for the old Terran warp-refitted destroyer (but has a rather different internal layout).
But by and large, the further continuation of the old Terran design templates would be found over in the Federal Republic of Aurora. _________________ FC Omega Discussion (v3)

What do you mean by "old"?
If you mean the Early Years, then you will need to look through the Modules Y1-Y3. If you mean the Middle Years, then you will need to look at Briefing #2.
In the Early Years, the Federation Y-series ships were earlier versions of the "saucer" ships and the W-series ships predated them and were "national" ships built by the respective main subgroups in the Federation. They had a YDD and YFF that were similar to the "modern" ships, but were less capable. Before that, they had national ships with various designs. The Terran/Federation WDD did resemble the later POL. The Terran WFF was a completely different design.
In the Middle Years, the Federation had the unrefitted ships seen in the main game. So, they had unrefitted versions of the DD and FF there. There was also another version of the DD that only had two photons, instead of four, called the MDD.
Does that answer the question? _________________

Hydran Medium Command Cruisers, Apache and/or Comanche, and Warrior class destroyer leader please.
Also one or more of the Hydran pure carriers, Cavalier, NCVL, Uhlan, DWV, Peg-V and/or Scythian. Unlike other empire's CVs, they at least don't need new fighter rules, and the escorts are already available. _________________ We are Hydrans! NO ONE LIKES US!

I was thinking about the Gorn Epanterias-H Heavy Medium Cruiser in SFB Module R12.
The HCM is to the CM what the BCH is to the BC, but it has the CS' throat R-torp in place of the paired S-torps of the CM. (I suppose you could refer to the ship as the Heavy Strike Cruiser, then.)
Historically, only one ship of this class (the Scything Claw) was built in 2582. But in FC terms, the hull would provide Gorn players with an alternate plasma loadout in that weight class.
If there was a slot in a future product for a new Main Era Gorn Ship Card, might the HCM be a viable candidate for conversion at that point? _________________ FC Omega Discussion (v3)

I'd be looking for the addition of all the minesweepers for each race. _________________ Tom |

Of course, the problem with adding minesweepers is that mines would have to be added first. And it doesn't look like there is much interest in adding mines, even as just terrain, to Federation Commander, even in Borders of Madness. _________________

Long long ago myself and a friend came up with the mauler. The original SSD was a Warbird with the boom of an F5 or D6 attached to the front to hold the weapon. Found one of the original SSD's drawn on graph paper from 30 years ago the other day! |

You realize that FC has given us twice as many ship classes right? There are dozens of cruisers, CL,DD,FF, PC, and GB's by simply using the fleet scale SSD's with Squadron scale battles...just have to name them. |
