Dear Friends,

Has anyone made FC Ship Cards for other universes such as SW / BSG / B-5 ?

Babylon 5 Wars fandom has produced hundreds of SSDs for universes other than B-5.

I know that the great Mr. Donald Miller has produced non-ST / SFU SSDs for SFB, but I was wondering if there are already FC cards for alternate universes.

Many thanks !

Gary

I'm sure they are out there, but as they violate copyrights in multiple ways, you won't see anybody linking to them here on ADB's official sites.

domingojs23, put up a link of one of the non-ST / SFU SSDs from Donald Miller's site that you posted about and wait for SVC or mjwest to respond.

Or... better yet, with Origins being 3 weeks away and FC: W&P being down to the final crunch - let's let that idea simmer until after Origins.
No need to take valuable SVC time away from game development this close to Origins.

Gary: To reiterate and expound on Will and Burt's comments...
I'm sure there are several versions of various "other Sci Fi milieu" ship cards out there... and a competent Google search will turn up many of them. Those "other melieux"; however, are the IP [Intellectual Property] of people and companies other than ADB and Paramount. And as such, Amarillo Design Bureau can not condone their creation or existence, nor can they provide links to such items nor allow others to post such links.

I'm sure Steve will explain this in more thorough detail, but that5's the gist of it.

Please never post a link to any site that you believe is violating ADB copyright. Instead, please email it to Steve Cole (at design@starfleetgames.com). He will take any necessary action from there. But don't post it.

Also, as busy as he is, it is never a wrong time to email him links to such sites. It is always very important for him to know that information quickly. So, don't be afraid to email notification to him at any point.

As the other have said, we can't do such "cross-license" work. Note that this includes any element of Star Trek that is not already in the game. (E.g. no Cardassians, no Borg, no Kirk, etc.) That is not supported by ADB's license and such cannot be condoned by ADB. Do note, however, that if you make up your own ships that are your own creation, you may post such. But they have to be wholy your own creation. (Also, note that, since they are using ADB's game system, such ship cards are still property of ADB. Therefore, you cannot charge for them, though you can post them for free.)

YOu can post such things only if you follow ADB's web policy, which you should go read, but it does involve giving us the copyright so nobody can gather up such things and publish a book of them (which nobody can legally do anyway).

As for the "not condone" part, that is total. You cannot ask people do mail them do you or email you links. You cannot post them or post links to them. If we find out that you did a starwars ship card and posted it, we will contact you ISP and we will notify Lucas about your actions. It's anybody's guess if Lucas will file a law suit before your ISP shuts down your website.

Hmmmm....

So I guess it would be permissible however for one to make post and generic FC Ship Cards, without reference to any particular universe / property - but they would essentially become ADB property ?

And by the way, is it correct to refer to FC Ship Cards as "FC SSDs" ?

Cheers,

Gary

If they are truly generic... i.e., of your own creation, then yes - as long as the ADB on-line policy is followed, I'd think you could post them.
Now... that doesn't necessarily mean you could create a 1.5 kilometer long, triangular shaped ship and call it Doofenschmirzt Destroy-inator. Nor could you create a long, narrow carrier which just happened to carrier it's fighter compliment in external bays slung along side the hull... or not even a cube shaped GORB cruiser.
If you truly want to see what a gneric, home-spun race looks like, you need to check out Jeremy Grey's Borak Star League on the legacy BBS.

And yes, anything posted does become the property of ADB. And most web-based units never see the light of day as official products. After all, why pay for something that you can download off a website somewhere?

No. They are properly called Federation Commander Ship Cards. SSDs are for SFB, ship cards are for FC.
