Eric,

Most of the campaign will be narrative / "interactive fiction" in nature, but there will be some instances of intense action (ie gunfights) where we will have more of the traditional RPG blow-by-blow interaction. Anyway, you will cued accordingly.

But we are just in the setting-up phase, hence my request for personal histories.

Here is an example of the sort of exchange we would have when we get to "action scenes":

My Post:

SCENE: W and T (Wilker and Trenssen) are alone in the dank D-7 interrogation room with Klingon Admiral K'oldfinger. W and T are standing, uniforms on, but weapons and gear confiscated, hands behind heads, in front of the Admiral, who is seated in a chair. He is armed with a standard Klingon hand disruptor. The room is 10x10 meters, the only other object in the room is the chair.

K'OLDFINGER: (pointing disrupter at W): "Choose your last witticism very carefully, Fed scum, it may be your last"

W AND T RESPOND:

Basically, I view RPG'ing to be like an interactive stage / screen play. I as GM would set the scenes like a director. and prompt you to respond. I also control the NPCs. You as PCs would respond to the scene and situation, and propose immediate actions, I as GM would then carry out the result of your actions, applying the relevant conditions, rules modifiers, etc.

/ooc got a little long but here is a rough ideal of what i see trevens Background.

Treven was born in to a Alpha Centenarian family with a strong history of military Service. His mother was serving as a officer aboard the (Insert the name of the Guard Cruiser assigned to Alpha Centenar). He is the youngest of 4 children and has 3 older sisters. His father,, Allen, was a little progressive compared to the average Alpha Centenarian Male in that he was a competent Mining Ship Pilot who took the time to teach his son the trade of a Spacer.

Treven's three sisters all Graduated from the Alpha Centenarian Military Academy and received commissions in the National guard. His Oldest sister, Belkia, transferred to Star Fleet early in the Y 168 and was assigned to a Frigate on the Klingon Boarder where she died with the rest of her crew defending Battle Station K5.

Melinda his 2nd oldest sister transferred to star fleet as well and was assigned to the Survey Cruiser Viking which explored the Core ward Sector of the Federation for the early part of the War..

Diana also in time transferred to Star Fleet where she severed on Various Ships be fore winding up as the Executive Officer of the Destroy Escort Kincad assigned to the MacArthur's Battle Group.

Like the rest of his family, Treven applied to the Alpha Centenarian Military Academy and to everyone's surprise was actually accepted on his own merit in to the Program. Unfortunately during his Senior Year the War with the Klingons broke out resulting the tragic loss of not only his Sister Belkia, but his father as well. To add to his misery his sister Diana was serving as a instructor in the Academy and, she never hid the fact that she personally believed that Tren had no business in the Military, when a opportunity presented it self she brought false charges against Tren, though never proven, they kept him from receiving a Commission in the Centenarian Armed Forces upon graduating.

With the shame of the spectacle his Sister put him through Treven enlisted in the Star Fleet Marine Corps. Where a Great Aunt of his was alerted to his Enlistment. Star Fleet Captain Etona Trenssen always thought that Treven and his father reminded her of her long dead husband. So she dug into his background and figured out what really happened. Calling in a couple of favors she was able to straighten out his Educational Status and arranged from him to receive a direct Commission after graduating boot camp and had him enter into Advanced Shuttle Pilot Training for Ground Assault.

After Finishing Advance Flight School Treven was assigned to the Commando Cruiser Okinawa. On his first mission the Okinawa drew the mission of evacuating dependents from a Listening Post that was about to be over run by a Klingon Offensive. Before the Evacuation was completed a Frigate Squadron forced the Okinawa to retreat and Treven was shot down. Once on the ground he was able to link up with other Federation Forces inducing a Special Forces Group that was tasked with evacuating a remote power substation. With the Commando leading the charge the Federation Forces were able to capture a Klingon Free Trooper that had landed for refueling without its troop complement. Between Treven and the various Federation Personnel they managed to fly back to federation Space with another 37 Civilians.

For his sins Treven was Promoted to Lieutenant (O2) and offer the chance to attend Star Fleet Academy for Advanced training in Star Ship Operations or to attend a Class on Mufti Role Shuttles, he refused both and instead was transferred to a Commando Carrier currently being outfitted.

After six months and several successful raids Treven received orders to report to Prime Central. After completing his training Treven is set to receive his promotion to Captain (03) but he received orders to report to the Briefing room...

Vrack was a "bad kid," always into trouble, running with the wrong crowd, getting into fights. However, he was also good as a mechanic, always fixing things, and would make money hot-rodding hovercars. At adulthood he joined the crew of a free trader. On his first outing it was attacked by a pirate vessel. The pirate ship, in need of a good mechanic, "drafted" him into the crew. At first he was resistant, but facing either giving in or death, he gave in. Over the next four years he became an active part of the crew. He was well rewarded, but the toll of his activities wore on him. He was injured in battle (gaining his scar), and as his comrades were cut down, he gained bloodlust, revelling in the violence.

After four years, he was allowed to retire from the life of piracy. Vrack enetered Star Fleet as an engineer, but was seconded to the Marines as support, and went through Marine boot camp to ready himself.

His past life is hidden, and he lives in fear his past as a pirate will catch up with him and land him in prison.

Sillian grew up in the capital of Alpha Centauri. Destined to take over the family business (dinnerware manufacturing), she decided she would rather see the Galaxy and upped to Star Fleet. He parents were not happy with her choice, but they have softened to it since the start of the war. During the Acacemy evaluation, she found a talent for engineering and persued that. Later, tired of seeing the universe from a window on a ship, she volenteered to work with prime teams, which will get her off ship and on world more often.

[OOC] Lt. Cmdr. Will Sherman's brief background:

Lt. Commander Will Sherman
Will was born and raised in a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Nothing notable happened in his childhood, expect for his knack for Mathematics, Computers and general star gazing.

He enrolled in Star Fleet Academy after spending a few years working on a Computer Science degree that he finished with honors. In the Academy, he focused on leadership/command tracts, with a specialist in Starship Helm/Navigation.

During his first assignment, he quickly accelerated to a promotion to a Jr. Lt., beta shift navigator and was shortly thereafter transferred to a large CA for a longer assignment. It was during this assignment that things in Will's life got strange. While exploring a strange, new world, the entire senior science team, including the science officer, was tragically killed. The Captain assigned a "rotating door" of science ensigns to run Sciences until a permanent replacement could be found, however, they didn't interact well with the crew and command structure. Being partially foolish, Will complained to the Captain about this, and next thing he knew, he was the new Science Officer, with a promotion to full Lt. Then he was ordered to "bone up" on related sciences so he could do his job well. He was awarded a leadership commendation for his tenure on the CA as Science Officer, since he did an excellent job. Almost immediately, Will started requesting transfers, knowing that very few science officers work their way up to Captains. Each transfer after another ended up being a science team lead instead of command tract that Will wanted. One good promotion lead to another and he found himself back on a different CA, this time as a Lt. Cmdr., Chief Science Officer.

Finally, while at the Officer's Club on Starbase 18, he ran into Captain Tuco Ramirez of the USS Crecy, an NCD, was chatting with Will and liked him. He said he would keep him in mind for a first officer's job on his ship, since more and more first officers are getting snagged up for ship captains now that the war is going on. Six months later, his request to transfer to the USS Crecy was approved as the first officer. One request from Captain Ramirez was that before his transfer was finalized that he attends Prime Team training to "brush up" on his commando skills due to the war effort going on. (Of course, most people think he's an "egg head" like all the other science types, which he's not.)

His hobbies include real old fashioned bicycle riding which he brings aboard when possible, and ancient pistol shooting (TL7, TL8, and TL9 era), when possible. (Maybe that's why people thinks he's an "egg head.")
