I've seen several different Klingon fleets, some have used a blue-green base, others gray, and still others green. What is their traditional or canon base color? |

The Traditional SFU base color is Blue-Gray ---
Depending on the painter, that could be one of several shades -- |

The green colour became popular in the wake of the films.
Having a fleet painted only one uniform colour is a very...human...concept.
Having painted all my klinks from wayback in a soviet-navy inspired blue-grey colour, I'm moving to the dark (dark green, that is) side now. _________________ We are Hydrans! NO ONE LIKES US! |

As-above. The official painting guide have always specified blue-gray.
As you note though, what that gray is ends up being interpreted differently, and TNG and the movies brought the green shades into the mix.
Interestingly enough, it was recently discovered that the original Klingon filming model actually had a purple-gray shade used for it's "wings".

I think Testors Intermediate Blue is a pretty decent blue-grey straight out of the bottle...

I know the "canon" color for Klignons in TOS was blue-grey (actually more of a purpulish gray), but I paint all of mine wiht a base coat of Panzer Grey then trim them out with various shades of grey... pewter grey, storm grey, gull grey, etc.
Check out the Klingon page on Photobucket (link in the signature box) for more examples. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

If you want to do a blue-grey theme, then I would agree with SWO_Daddy that Testors Intermediate Blue is a really good off-the-shelf color. I believe that I used that same color on some Hydrans many years ago (since then I repainted the Hydrans in Mica Blue).
I went with Tamiya "Olive Drab 2" just because I wanted a deep, dark green.

I use Testors US Navy Blue-Grey. Testors Intermediate Blue is a good choice too, but I use that for my Hydrans. |

I used Model Master arctic blue metallic for mine.
I think it looked better before I dulled it with a clearcoat. My next round might not get that type of coating, it might just get a gloss and be done. _________________ O.G. OPTIMUS
