Is there a rule which says that a ship, docked inside a base or starbase, is destroyed when the base is destroyed? _________________

Oddly, I don't think this was even addressed in the Andromedan rules. (I looked, but it was quickly.) Of course, don't forget that there aren't any real rules for starbases docking ships inside its pods, either.
Regardless, if one unit (ship, shuttle, whatever) is inside another unit (ship, base, whatever) that blows up, it is destroyed, too. So, if your base or mothership is likely to get killed next impulse, you better start getting the subcraft out now!
I'll double-check the rules again, but if I can't find a reference I will have something added for Communique. _________________

No, it's not in the Andromedan rules.
I always assumed that your satellite ship got blown up when the mothership did, but I suppose it would be good to have it spelled out.
There are no rules for internally docking ships in FC, that I am aware of, unless there are special rules for the Starbase. _________________ "Captain" Terry O'Carroll, fourteen papers published including six best of issue

Thanks to Terry for confirming the Andro rules, and I went back and checked Battleship Attack.
Starbases, in Federation Commander, do not have explicit (i.e. in the rules) internal docking. Therefore, any ship docked to a starbase is purely external as given in the Docking rules. So, outside Andromedan satellite ships, the only things that "dock" inside ships or bases are shuttles. Shuttles are destroyed when their box is disabled (5H1). When a ship is destroyed, every box is disabled, ergo, any remain shuttle on board is also destroyed.
For Andromedans, I don't think a rule was added because it was pretty much assumed by everyone that any satellite ship on board when the mother ship was destroy would go down with the mother ship. Perhaps that should be explicitly clarified, but there you are.
So, if you want to allow explicit internal docking to a starbase, then any ship internally docked at the base would be destroyed when the starbase is destroyed.
Finally, note that Federation Commander will likely never get (even in BoM) the concept of "imminent destruction". The impulse procedure doesn't really allow for that "last second" style jump off-board. When a ship (or base) is destroyed, everything on it is lost as well. You should have removed anything the impulse before. _________________

Thanks for that, guys. It's interesting how you have each interpreted my question. It wasn't initially to do with Andro sat ships, although the ship in question is an Andro ship, but it's in a light metal construct attached to the outside of the base - a special scenario rule, if you will.
I think really that I need to state in the scenario that the ship is destroyed if the base is destroyed while it's still docked 'in' the base. That was there's no confusion. _________________
