Jean and I have discussed the general idea of establishing "campaign ribbons for campaigns" which would be added to the wall of honor. Here are some general ideas. We'd like to get some comments, write up the official "rules" for this, and mention them in CL#42.

1. The Campaign Master for each campaign will have to "do the paperwork" as you cannot expect ADB to spend time figuring out who if anyone deserves what if anything. Presumably, players could pester their campaign master to "get er done" and could offer to do the work for him.

2. Ribbons would go to those who "fully participated over an extended period of time". We're thinking at least six months, maybe a year. Anyone have any input? I don't have a feeling for just exactly how many months a given campaign runs.

3. We would create a general campaign ribbon format different from the "project ribbons" and the Campaign Master for each campaign could select the colors to fill certain areas of the ribbon so that each campaign is uniquely beribboned.

4. The awards need to be accurate and valid, but ADB doesn't have time to audit them. We'd post the "nominations" in a topic and allow anyone who wanted to "comment" if the awards are not valid, one of those "If anyone here knows a reason why this player and this ribbon should not be joined, let him speak now or forever hold his peace".

5. The "devices" on the ribbon (plain, diamond, cross, star) might be added based on something, perhaps time played or perhaps victory.

6. This would include SFB, FC, PBEM, F&E, Galactic Conquest, or whatever other "campaigns" are active. As most of the F&E stuff is two-player, we might have one generic F&E campaign ribbon with the name of the campaign below it.

7. Awards for older campaigns could be made if there is adequate verification that they actually happened, but if the topic has been deleted the awards would be "basic level" with no devices no matter how long they were run or who won.

8. Moderators would get the ribbon with an octagon device.

Questions? Comments?

If ribbons aren't given out for those who participate in tournaments like Origins, I see no reason why Campaigns should warrant them.

Taking off my official hats ...

I've participated in several Galactic Conquest campaigns. They are a significant investment in time, running years. Campaign players are sometimes an overlooked part of the customer base and one could argue that they, too, deserve recognition.
