Returned from Triples very dissapointed on FC front. Triples is the largest wargames show in the North of England and not one dealer was carrying Federation Commander. No one was playing it either, also not many had heard about it. |

Great idea, but sadly I am stuck up here in the wilds of Peter Rabbit country and due to various factors never travel further south than Sheffield. Also due to lack of time I have not even been able to put on a game at my local club. |

Peter Rabbit country? Up here the haggis are running riot but they haven't heard of FC either.
I had same problem when I was a SFB player, there was hardly anyone about who would play or would be bothered trying to get into the rules to learn to play (perhaps no surprise there). I had hoped with FC being more stream lined and faster that there would be more players but looking at the CC list there is only me in Scotland.
Maybe the UK players should start trying to get some PBEM's going? |

I'd be up for that - haven't a clue how to go about it mind you... _________________ Nothing is quite as persuasive as a disruptor pistol on slow burn and a rotisserie...... |

Guess I'll go and have a look at the PBEM rules and see if they are simpler than the SFB ones that I tried many moons ago - they were hard going.
The other alternative is maybe to sign up to SFB online and download the FC client |

There's an army of FC players here in Cottonopolis.
An army of...two.
Back in the day (early 90s) we had quite a thriving SFB community; I did other things than wargaming for a few years, but when I started again, it had all gone away.
Unfortunately, the SF gaming element round here are currently pretty much in thrall to the Evil Empire of Nottingham.
Sadly, this has led to endemic Attention Deficit Hyperdestructivity Disorder, meaning any space game where at least half the ships haven't blown up by the end of turn two is dismissed as 'slow' and 'boring', and complaints of 'stop using tactics!' and 'you're only winning because I made a mistake!' (both verbatim, different opponents.)
It looks like we (FC players in Britain) are spread rather thinly at the moment. The next large show I'll be able to get to is Game 09 in Manchester on the 16th-17th of October. Would anyone be interested if I set up a tourney there?
I suppose we could always start calling ourselves FC:UK. |

I'm tentatively interested..... But I prefer single-ship actions to squadrons, as the current tourney format stands. _________________

Single ships? OK, we can do that. |
