I have a question about Hellbores. I know that that always do most of that damage against the weekest shield of the ship they hit. So here is my question. When do you determine which shield is weakest? For an example, a Ranger charges in close to an opponent while a Dragoon hangs back. In the same impulse, both ships attack. My question is: is the weakest shield the weakest on the enemy ship before both Hydran ships fire, or is it the shield that gets obliterated by the Rangers point blank assault? |

It's resolved at the point the fire from that ship is resolved. So yes, the ranger can fire first and drop a shield, and then the hellbore will hit that shield, notwithstanding that a moment before that another shield was the weakest.

Lee is correct.
Also, remember if there are two or more shields that are exactly the same weakness, the defender picks which is hit. _________________
