Okay, pictures of my first Gorn squadron, to be used in a convention game in a few weeks:
Gorn HDD and 2 BDD
I made the base coat of 1:2 Emerald Green to Jade Green lighter with some white paint, and then used a wash of 1:3 Emerald Green and water to highlight the green. The tricky part was to allow the yellowish metallic particles to settle and then move aside most of the paint away, so that I could use the brush to pick up more particles. Otherwise, the Emerald Green made the whole thing too dark by the time I got it "shiny" enough. _________________

| Those look nice. I've done Gorn in Green, Blue, Gray, and gray metallic. Eventually I'll pick some up to paint. |

Very nice, what stands are those?
... Also, on the Mobile Base from a page or two back I noticed the SB-M83 markings on the pods. Is M83 a reference to the music group? |

Impressive work.
But the Gorns...greebles for the sake of greebles.
The scales just look...silly? Thrown on? Less-realistic? Pass.
The Gorn engines on the other hand, wow.
Critiquing the mini, not the paint work.
Some of the Klingon ships suffer the same issue.
DJDoods Klingon BB concept art was awesome...not sure what the actual Mongoose B-10 looks like (or is even released?) RL got in the way of FC.
The Fed ships continue to impress...anyone have the BB done yet? _________________ Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But then I repeat myself.-- Mark Twain |

The scales, etc., can be downplayed by not painting them in a highlighting color, etc. If left with just base hull color, they would be less prominent.
The B-10 mini is coming. I'm not sure when, but I would assume sometime this year. The renders looked very much like my suggestion art, so if you liked my take on it, you'll probably be pleased.
The Fed battleship just hit ADB's stock and should be on-sale today. I'll have mine on-order tonight and in-hand by next week at the latest, so I can finalize the markings set for Tenneshington Decals. _________________

I rationalized the scales as old Pre-War shield generators, which were supposed to be replaced with the ring-shaped generators as seen on the BDD/HDD/CM/BCH. But Gorn tight-waddedness plus the manufacturer of the old style generator's successful lobbying meant that the Gorns continued to use the old style generators even though that newfangled more expensive generator was more efficient and smaller/lighter.
Hey, I didn't put the scales on the minis, I just have to explain them... _________________
