I recently obtained a prototype set of the decals sold by Scoutdad here: http://www.tenneshington.com/ These were not the regular ones they are selling now; those are even better.
I did have some trouble with the decals until I found a product called MicroSet, which helps the decals adhere better, and softens them up so that the matte spray doesn't make them crack. The BCH and CA have decals treated with the MicroSet; the DNG, FF, and OCL didn't.
Before decals:
And after:
Individual ships:
Fed DNG:
Fed BCH:
Fed CA:
Fed OCL:
Fed FF:
Underside of the ships (which I believe the new decals have more panel decals).

Nice looking ships, both with and without. Thanks for sharing these.
Now, where did you get the base fire-arc diagrams/stickers/decals? _________________ jmt

They are vinyl stickers that go on top of the bases. I had them made up by a local graphics artist and printed locally. |

great!
The first thread that truly showcases Tenneshington's decals, and all anybody wantsto comment on are the stickers on the bases!!!!!
Good thing I've already ordered mine!
I have some off them already, and I can verify that they look even better in person than they do in print. _________________

I'm starting to see a flaw...
The decals are getting torn up and seperated on the dish... Originally it wasn't my plan to "smooth" my DNG (I did smooth my BC... but that was an epic undertaking... o.O)...
I wonder if I should simply smooth the grid lines under where the registration number and name will go... The red stripes are pretty much doomed on that dish...
I love the new decals, though! _________________

I had a hellacious time with the DNG decal as well. I had to give up on the War Rings; the dang thing wouldn't stay together. I think the trick is to slide the decal right off the paper into place; trying to use a wet paintbrush (which is what I used for most decals) to pickup the decal didn't work at all for me. You basically get one chance at it; if you have to move it around much it'll break.
I did note that once I started using the MicroSet, the cracking of the decals diminished quite a bit. It's been suggested to me that I should use decal varnish on the decals right before the matte spray. |

| Micro set combined with micro sol will alleviate the problem. 24 hours later dull coat an they will last a very long time. |

You definitely have to slide the rings off the paper directly onto the saucer.
And micro-sol / micro set will do wonders for helping the decals conform to the details in the hull. _________________

Just to let all know, I am selling those bases...PM me if interested.
Tony, I knew I'd hook you with that first batch of 16 stickers. Hey, you might find you want more than you just bought. |
