I've spent a great deal of time compiling "instant fleet" charts for those times when no one in our group can think of a scenario that appeals, and it comes down to "Let's do Race A against Race B, 4 ships per side up to 500 points," etc. Or 600 points, or 5 ships or whatever.
Because what usually happens is the next hour or more is wasted shuffling through every ship card we can find to get something that balances. That was the point of having those instant fleet charts -- cover as many situations as possible in advance so we can start rolling dice much sooner.
NOW THEN--- In the process of compiling those charts I used the most recent (CL44) master ship chart to be able to include all possible ships (beyond the ones I have, which is about 80 to 90 percent of the total).
I came across a troubling trend when I discovered that some ships (from the time of release in early border products to re-release on e23) gained as many as six points over time, most of which are not reflected in the master ship charts.
Most notably this affected the Tholians, because they were the first race for which I happened to purchase e23 ships to fill in gaps in my roster. But now I have to wonder: do ships of all races go through this "evolution?" I had to scrap all my Tholian charts and start over-- will I have to do the same with all races? What is the final authority on BPVs-- published cards? e23? communiques? the "master" chart?
It's probably not a big deal- a few points here or there- but I've put in a lot of work on this project. I don't want it all wasted. _________________ Damn, these dice are cold! |

When something is wrong, we fix it.
Most of the "errors" are in fact cards right and number entered into chart wrong. Typos happen.I think there's a godling in charge of such things. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Thanks. Would it be safe to say "most recent card is right?" Should the e23 cards be considered an across-the-board revision? _________________ Damn, these dice are cold! |

Usually, latest is correct.
If you find something different between a card and the MSC, let me know, and I'll either fix the MSC or mark the MSC that it supersedes the card. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander
