I am looking at possibly getting into this great looking game. I had a question about sensors and electronic warfare. Does Federation command have a sensor or EW managment aspect to it? If so what kinds of systems are being used?
Thanks! |

Aside from Special sensors, no, there is no EW component |

FedCom (the stock "base" game) doesn't bother with the extra rules crunch needed for EW, scanner/sensor tracks, etc. They are kind of subsumed into the mechanics of the game and not tracked separately as they are in SFB.
Rules do exist for using a limited form of special sensor rules in FedCom, but they are in the "Borders of Madness", which is technically a separate game that happens to build upon the base FedCom system. BoM adds lots of things (special sensors, maulers, Klingon firing arcs, etc.) that can be interesting but may (or may not) be worth all the extra hassle required.
If too many things are added to FedCom, it stops being a streamlined system and starts turning into SFB, which is already out there. _________________

For our Early Years campaign we use a House Rule for EW - 2 energy per die modifier level as ECM/ECCM, at Fleet Scale. It generally favors the large ships with more power, and the decision to use must be made at the start of the turn during Photon arming. It's been used maybe a dozen times, usually by bases. |
