So, I've a few unpainted mini's and I'm also planning to vastly increase the size of my fleets and was wondering which category of paints you prefer.

I use rattlecan Tamiya (lacquer, I think) primer, airbrushed enamels (Testors Model Master, mostly) for basecoats, Tamiya acrylics for details, and various inks and pastels for weathering.

Mostly acrylics. Primers are spray-on (white, grey). White basecoat (Krylon Glossy White) is spray on paint, all other base coats are brush-applied acrylics.

Similar to Will:
I use a spray on (rattle can) primer... typically Armoury brand white or Krylon black.
I use mostly acrylic paints (air-brushed for base coat) for the colors.
I also use a combination of inks / enamels for details along with the occasional oddball stuff (like a couple of super bright fingernail polishs for some details).
I use pastels and drawing inks for weathering and washes.

I also am a frequent user of various extenders / flow-aids / sealents / texture-additives / etc. when the medium or the end result calls for it.
