I know shields can be repaired at a cost of 2 energy points for each shield box repaired, but I've been wondering *why* the option was not included in the rules to use damage control to repair shields, too. It seems reasonable that damage control teams could also work on "shield generators" (or whatever they're called). _________________ Mike

I see it as being less about broken bits (after all the ship took no actual damage), and more that the shield absorbing all that energy is being done by expenditure of shield energy - you have to refill the shield capacitor etc. So it's an energy issue not a damage control issue. |

In SFB you can use damage control to repair shields. However in SFB you are very limited in how much you can repair (and most things cost more to repair than in FC) so you are generally not using damage control for shields. So i would guess that due to the unlimited repair in FC, and the ability to shift 5 boxes from an adjacent shield (you can't do that in SFB) that having damage control repair a couple boxes for free was a little to much. |
