Hi Everybody,
I've been working with ChatGPT and I'm wondering if AI generated Scenarios are allowed on the Federation Commander Forum?
It's fantastic at building Scenarios. At least they look good. I haven't tried playing any yet.
I posted some last night but then deleted them. I figured I better ask first.
Thanks,

I don't know what the official ADB stance is. That said, I would be very hesitant. The reason is because for AI to generate a reasonable scenario, it had to have stolen (and I'musing that term intentionally) hundreds of real, human generated scenarios to get the necessary information to generate a credible one on its own. So, I hesitate to endorse that.
What I will say is if you use ChatGPT to clean something up, or generate an idea you elaborate on, fine. But I think it would be best to make sure you are involved in a significant way for any scenario you want to post or advance.
That said, what you do on your own or in your own group is up to you.
And, again, this is not an official position, as I don't know what their position would be on this. It's just my take. _________________

Everything I inputted into ChatGPT was my theme or my idea. I even made several of the Scenarios fully by myself that it incorporated into a Manual.
In fact, I now have 3 Solo manuals using ChatGPT.
A Academy and Shakedown Manual
- 5 Academy Solo Scenarios
- 5 Shakedown Solo Scenarios
A Robot Rules Manual
- using the original Klingon Robot Rules, it extrapolated and made
- Romulan Robot Rules
- Orion Pirate Robot Rules
- Tholian Robot Rules
and
A Robot Commanders Manual
- Adding personality to the Robot Simulations for each empire
- Klingon Captain Gorloth
- Romulan Commander Varen
- Orion Pirate Lord Krax
- Tholian Commander Shaval
It's all about Star Trek and Federation Commander. And somehow, ChatGPT got ahold of the FedCom rules. But I own Klingon Border and Romulan Space, plus the Tactics Manual, a Scenario book (I think it's the first one) and I had gotten FedeCom Academy about 10 years ago, so I have an extra book.
I'm not stealing from Star Trek or Federation Commander when I created several Scenarios, so why do you consider the AI to be stealing for doing the same thing? I had ideas or even outlines for all of the Scenarios. So, it was taking what I told it and putting it into FedCom context.
It did freak me out how well it knew Federation Commander. _________________ Check out my Turn Sequence Checklist in the Play Aids section of the Commander's Circle. |

Your best bet is to ask Steve or Al.
And, to be clear, I was not saying *you* are stealing. I was (and am) saying the ChatGPT engine is stealing. Or, more properly, the OpenAI company is stealing. There is approximately a zero percent chance that OpenAI has paid for Federation Commander or literally any piece of information it has integrated into its LLM. Every scrap of information OpenAI has used to build ChatGPT is flat out stolen. They openly admit this.
Just wanted to make sure it was clear on what I was saying. _________________

I can echo what Mike West said.
I would be at least interested/amused at seeing what Chat GPT could produce.
Every scenario incorporates standard language from older scenarios and if somebody invented a good way to handle special situation XYZ it's not unusual for other scenario writer's to copy the wheel instead of inventing a wheel.
So, not "open the gates and let slip the dogs of war" but "send me one and we'll see." _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Hey Mr. Cole,
I sent you some messages. But they show up in the Outbox, and everyone else I send a message to end up in the Sentbox.
Is that ok?
I'm going to send a new link over with the corrections. Please let me know if the link doesn't work.
