Hi everybody,
1st posting here. But hopefully some already now me from other forums...
After the announcement of the new ST Discovery TV show my age old ST fan interest was reignited and I decided to play Star Trek Online. Agents of Yesterday then makes me interested in the TOS era again.
And since I also bought Mongoose Starfleet book I came to ADB.
After some very nice mails with Leanna I ordered a small Federation and Klingon fleet. The order arrived very fast.
1st ships are now painted.
Klingon D7 cruiser - ADB (former Mongoose) Starline 2500 model.
The model is reasonable good. Not a scale model but a tough all metal wargaming piece. I am planning a small 1500 pts Klingon fleet that will also use some Raptors from the 21st C ENT era, so I added the additional support rods for each warp nacelle.

The model is again reasonable good but the cast is not as good some other models of the line, I presume since everybody interested in the miniature line wants an Enterprise, the mold is very well used. Consequently the model was a challenge to build. Warped disk, flash, rough surfaces etc.
But all in all I like the ship! And the smaller ships from the line are in much better shape. Next week I will show a Wardestroyer and a F5 (both incredible good models) .

Nice paint jobs! Especially on the D7! Did you free-hand that lettering on the Enterprise? Seriously though, that D7 makes me sad that I went 2400 instead of 2500.
Do you mean saucer section or deflector dish for the part that was warped? Because the saucer section is sort of oddly sunken seeming just before the rise - but I believe that's by design.
Again though, props on that D7, it may actually be my favorite one I've seen so far. What shade of green is that? |

True, but I was speaking about the WHOLE saucer section, it was a bit twisted and the panel lines were really not as crisp as on the other ships.
Lot's of cleaning and realigning, then even more pinning etc.
Definitely NOT a beginners model.

I start with Flames of war British Armour war paint primer, then a wash of GW Agrax earthshade, after that a Vallejo green (can't read the number, bottle to worn out) similar to GW Waagh Green.
Highlights with more and more light grey.

If you do Facebook, there is also a very active SFU minis and kitbashing group there. Lots of admirers and master-painters like Kent Ing, etc. posting frequently.

I don't have Facebook either, and never plan to, but I appreciate the fact that the linked Group above is viewable to non members, and therefore it's still a good modelling resource!

Nope, no drybrushing at all, just layer upon layer!
I start with a white primer, then a wash of thinned down medium grey. On the underside a darker grey.
After that i apply a layer of lighter grey with more and more white mixed in on the raised panels.
At the end some white edge highlights, done.
