We want to be "THE Ships Site" not "that weird ships site" which is the reputation we would have indelibly stained on our foreheads if we open without the Fed CA and Klingon D7. We got word this morning that further delays will push this to at least 1 June and are now looking at other options. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

First looks at the new Federation CA heavy cruiser model for the ADB Shapeways store -
This is the 1/3788-scale Starline 2400 size version, so it will print at exactly 3 inches long. _________________

WOW!
Looking good, Will.
I can't wait to get one printed and post a side-by-side with the Mongoose version. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

That does look great! Can't argue with the extra weapon slots either... as long as I get to use them! I'll just write out a new data card for ACTA, we'll call it the 'authoritarian' variant constitution class CA. |

Umm... what extra weapon slots?
Pretty sure ACTSF doesn't have that variant either.
And while not 100% certain... I'd bet the dude in charge won't ever let it have one either.
Not unless he's amply rewarded with copious amounts of lead / resin / pewter / and epoxy.

Will, I assume it will be a multi-piece print? _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

That is a CAR. It has eight phasers and four photons. It does not have the phasers or drone rack from the refit. So, it has fewer weapons than the "CA" presented in Federation Commander (which, in SFB, is a CAR+).
So, I don't understand that original comment, either. _________________

JohnDDW might be referring to the joke I made about it on the legacy discus bbs (nobody was commenting, so I said "it looks like nobody has noticed that I put 16 photon launchers on the thing"). I was kidding, of course.
This is indeed the CAR. I probably should have made it the CAR+ (I forgot that the final refit added even more phasers - thought I had all the bumps accounted for). Drone rack should probably get added too. Good catches, Mike.
To answer Tony's question; nope. It's intended to be a one-piece print and passes all the automated test to do so. There is always a chance of an issue during Shapeways' final manual checks before printing, but I tried to put enough margin into things to prevent issues. _________________

GREAT! Now I'm going to have to replace all 24 of my multi-piece 2400s and all 16 of my multi-piece 2500s...
Just to keep clumsy hands from breaking them at the game table. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

This is actually a clever plot by Will and me to get people to continually buy new minis to replace the ones that break. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Is there a divorce support group in Amarillo that one could point us too?
At least those of who expect to get divorced due to excessive miniatures acquisition. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Frankly I am sorely tempted for exactly this reason. The nacelle attachment on the Fed CA hulls and derivatives is a nightmare. |

Heh yeah the joke from the other place, those aren't 16 torpedo launchers? Hmmm... lets just pretend they are. |

Since mjwest has seen this thread -
It should probably be moved under the general "miniatures" top-level category (something only an admin can do, if it can be done at all).
When I created it, I thought Shapeways was gonna be a Starline 2500 oriented thing - it very quickly evolved away from that and now includes both SL2400 and SL2500 scales (along with SL2450 non-scale ships). _________________

I see all threads ...

Moved!
I even renamed it to delete the "2500" reference. The "Ghost" in the old location eventually goes away. _________________
