ADB Releases Ships for November, 2019

On October 31, 2019, ADB released a total of 41 new items to its shop on Shapeways. That brings our shop to over 1,800 items. There are some styles of ships designed to work within the price increase that Shapeways imposed. Notably we added the 7000 Scale that is similar to the older Elite Scale (1/7000). These currently are being released in two different collections. The Core Collection for each empire has one each of the six most common ships of that empire. The Builder Collections have six ships (multiple copies of some) that would create a common fleet when combined with the Core Collection. We also added another ship in the new, larger scale that we named the 2500 Scale (Prestige Scale) which is 1/2500. These larger ships are perfect for one-on-one tabletop duels. They can always be used as a display model when not being used for battles.

The Federation gets its 2500 Scale Heavy Cruiser (CAR), and the 7000 Scale Core Collection (dreadnought, battlecruiser, heavy cruiser, new light cruiser, war destroyer, and frigate), and Builder Collection (three frigates, two war destroyers, and a new light cruiser).

The Klingons gain their 7000 Scale Builder Collection (one D5 war cruiser, two F5W war destroyers, and three of the ubiquitous F5 frigates). The Core Collection is scheduled for release in December 2019.

The Romulans get their original Condor Dreadnought. Because of the way their fleet is designed, they have multiple releases in the 7000 Scale. They have their Eagle Core Collection (Vulture, King Eagle, War Eagle, Falcon Mauler, BattleHawk, and Snipe) and Eagle Builder Collection (two each of War Eagle, BattleHawk, and Snipe), Hawk Core Collection (Condor, FireHawk, RoyalHawk, SparrowHawk, SkyHawk, and SeaHawk) and Hawk Builder Collection (a SeaHawk, two SkyHawks, two SparrowHawks, and a FireHawk), and Hawk Refit Core Collection (Condor, FireHawk, RoyalHawk, SparrowHawk, SkyHawk, and SeaHawk) and Hawk Refit Builder Collection (a SeaHawk, two SkyHawks, two SparrowHawks, and a FireHawk). The "Refit" indicates it is a late-war "Cranked Arrow" design in the style of the Starline 2500 Romulan ships which these are based on.

The Tholians gain multiple releases in the 7000 Scale. They have their Tholian Core Collection (dreadnought, heavy cruiser, war cruiser, destroyer, patrol corvette, police cutter), and Builder Collection (one war cruiser, two destroyers, two patrol corvettes, and a police cutter) as well as the Neo-Tholian Core Collection (dreadnought, heavy cruiser, light cruiser, destroyer, and two frigates) and Builder Collection (two each of the light cruiser, destroyer, and frigate).

The Seltorians get their Core Collection (dreadnought, battlecruiser, heavy cruiser, light cruiser, destroyer, and frigate) and Builder Collection (heavy cruiser, light cruiser, two destroyers, and two frigates) in the 7000 Scale.

The Gorns gain their Alectrosaurus Light Dreadnought (in the new ACTASF book) and Heavy Medium Cruiser in both the regular and refitted versions. They also get their battlestation in both the regular and augmented forms.

The Kzintis get their Core Collection (dreadnought, heavy battlecruiser, battlecruiser, light cruiser, destroyer, and frigate) and Builder Collection (a new heavy cruiser, two medium cruisers, two war destroyers, and a frigate) in the new 7000 Scale.

The Lyrans and their wayward county of the Lyran Democratic Republic get their Jaguar-H Heavy War Cruiser (the 3125 Scale also has a kit version of this). The Lyrans also gain their Core Collection (dreadnought, battlecruiser, heavy cruiser, light cruiser, destroyer, and frigate) and Builder Collection (war cruiser, two war destroyers, destroyer, and two frigates). (The LDR could also use these ships.)

The WYNs gain a sprue of two of their Barracuda Frigates. They also get their Auxiliary Ship Collection in the 7000 Scale.

ADB Releases Ships for December, 2019

On December 1, 2019, ADB released a total of 88 new items to its shop on Shapeways. That brings our shop to over 1,900 items. There are some styles of ships designed to work within the price increase that Shapeways imposed. We also added more ships in the new, larger scale that we named the 2500 Scale (Prestige Scale) which is 1/2500. These larger ships are perfect for one-on-one tabletop duels. They can always be used as a display model when not being used for battles. Notably we added the North Polar Fleet that matches the ship cards in our free Federation Commander North Polar epack and the ship rosters for A Call to Arms: Star Fleet (again, this is a free epack).

The Klingons gain their 7000 Scale Core Collection (C8 dreadnought, C7 heavy battlecruiser, D7 battlecruiser, D5 war cruiser, F5W destroyer, F5 frigate). They also get their 2500 Scale D7K Refitted Battlecruiser. In the 3788 and 3125 scales, they get their D6P Gunboat/PF Tender.

The Romulans get their Augmented Base Station, Battle Station, and Augmented Battle Station.

The Tholians gain their Heavy War Destroyer (PF Tender). This is a heavy war destroyer set up to carry gunboats. They also get the 7000 Scale Neo-Tholian Fleet 312th Builder Collection. This collection is designed to combine with the Builder and Core collections to provide a complete version of the 312th Battle Squadron.

The Kzintis have their Heavy Carrier, Space Control Ship, and Super Space Control Ship.

The Orions make out like bandits with their Battle Station, Augmented Battle Station, Light Raider Scout, Patrol Carrier, and War Destroyer Scout. They also get a sprue of two Battle Raiders and another sprue with two Light Cruisers.

The Lyrans get an iconic 2500 Scale Tiger Heavy Cruiser.

The Hydrans get sprues of their destroyers in an effort to cut costs to the buyer. There is a sprue of two Knight Destroyers, another of two Lancer Destroyers, and a final sprue with one each of the Knight and Lancer.

The ISC gains its 7000 Scale Fleet Core Collection (Dreadnought, Star Cruiser, Light Cruiser, Destroyer, and two Frigates) and its Fleet Builder Collection (two each of its Light Cruisers, Destroyers, and Frigates).

The Jindarians get another of their metal ships, the Frigate either singly or on a sprue of two.

The Vudar get their 7000 Scale Fleet Core Collection (Dreadnought, Heavy Battlecruiser, Heavy Cruiser, War Cruiser, War Destroyer, and War Frigate) and their Fleet Builder Collection (two War Cruisers, two War Destroyers, and two War Frigates). They also get their Heavy Battlecruiser and Heavy Cruiser in both 3788 and 3125 scales.

The WYN get their Auxiliary Cruiser built on a Kzinti hull, Orca-V Light Carrier, and Grey Shark Dreadnought. The dreadnought is also available as a kit that needs some assembly.

More types of general ships were also released. Armed freighters were released for small, large, jumbo and heavy armed freighters. Large and small Q-ships were also released. These are shown in two styles: Revealed when the panels have just pulled back and Deployed when the weapons have been moved into place.

The big release was for the North Polar Fleet. These have been described in ship cards for Federation Commander each Christmas since 2013, although the Sleigh appeared in 2006. They have been released in stats for A Call to Arms: Star Fleet. Plans are to release them for Star Fleet Battles as SSDs and we hope to see them soon as ship cards for Starmada. The ships, released in both 3788 and 3125 scales except as noted, include the Battle Station (Omni Scale only), Candy Cane Light Cruiser, Candy Sprite Destroyer, Candy Stick Missile DD, Candy Stripe Scout, Commando Cruiser, Gingerbread Attack Cruiser, Sleigh Medium Cruiser (3125, 3788, and 7000 scales), Snow Command Cruiser, Star Strike Cruiser, and Tree Heavy Cruiser.

Finally, given the popularity of the 7000 Scale ships and requests from players, we have released covers for the bases of these miniatures. One of the sizes expands the half-inch, hex-shaped bases to one-inch, hex-shaped bases, and this is available with either 18 or 24 covers. The other is designed for A Call to Arms: Star Fleet players and turns the half-inch, hex-shaped bases to two-centimeter, round bases. This facilitates using the 7000 Scale miniatures by changing the inch measurements to centimeter; one inch equals one centimeter.

ADB Releases Ships for January, 2020

On January 6, 2020, ADB released a total of 39 new items to its shop on Shapeways with over 1,900 items in total available. Notably we began to add the Peladine Empire that our fans have been requesting for years. Please note that all ships are available in both 3788 and 3125 scales unless specifically noted. Then they are only available in the scale noted.

The Federation starts with one of the best deals for Federation ships that we have offered to date. The 3788 Scale Frigate Collection with Corvettes has six ships (a Battle Frigate, Scout Frigate, two Burke-class Frigates, and two Corvettes). The new Omni Scale "General" Monitor is based upon the Federation Monitor.

The Klingons gain their B10 Battleship in the 7000 Scale. This is the start of the new 7000 single releases of the larger ships, such as the battleships.

The Romulans get ships at both ends of the scale. The iconic War Eagle with an etched belly bird is in the 2500 "Prestige" Scale; the King Condor Battleship is now available in the 7000 Scale.

The Gorns have their Medium Dreadnought in both the regular and refitted versions. They also get their 7000 Scale Fleet Builder Collection (medium cruiser, two heavy destroyers, two battle destroyers, and a destroyer) and 7000 Scale Fleet Core Collection (dreadnought, heavy battlecruiser, battlecruiser, light cruiser, destroyer, and frigate) in two versions, as regular and refitted ships.

The Tholians gain their Patrol Corvette and the Neo-Tholian Light Cruiser in the 2500 "Prestige" Scale.

The Kzintis have their Battle Station and Augmented Battle Station. These Omni Scale battle stations are done to reflect the style of the Kzinti designers. In the 7000 Scale, they also get their Battleship (as a single) and another sprue of two ships (War Destroyer and Frigate).

The Lyrans and their wayward county of the Lyran Democratic Republic gain several variations of the Panther Light Cruiser. There is the Light Escort Cruiser, Light Scout Cruiser, and Light Carrier. Note that LDR ships are only in the 3125 Scale. The Lyrans also get the same ships in a "refitted" version with aztecking in the 3788 Scale.

The Hydrans get the Lord Marshal Command Cruiser and Templar Early Dreadnought in the 3788 Scale and 3125 Scale; the Lord Marshal is also available in the 2500 "Prestige" Scale.

The ISC gains its Battleship as a single ship in the 7000 Scale.

Finally, the Peladine Empire, which is one of the "also rans" in the history of the Alpha Quadrant, gets its Heavy Cruiser as the first of the ships for that empire.

The Federation starts with the New Fast Cruiser and New Fast Light Cruiser. These are available in both the Federation (gridded saucer) and Fed Classic (smooth saucer) styles.

The Klingons gain their X-Ship F5X Frigate. In the more aztecked style is the X-Ship F5XK Frigate.

The Romulans gain their Peregrine New Mauler Cruiser. It is also available in the "+" or "Cranked Arrow" style. In the 7000 Scale, they get their Fleet Assault Ship Collection containing a Peregrine New Mauler Cruiser, a FlameHawk Mauler, two SparrowHawk-F Mauler Cruisers, and two SparrowHawk-J Assault Cruisers. The collection is also available in the "+" or "Cranked Arrow" style.

The Kzintis are focused on transports as they get their Medium Tactical Transport, War Destroyer Transport, and Frigate Transport. Even their 7000 Scale has a similar focus with their Tug Collection including the Fleet Tug (with one, two, or no pods), the Light Tactical Transport (with one pod), the War Destroyer Transport, and Frigate Transport (which could carry cargo pods but could not operate combat pods).

The Tholians get their Neo-Tholian Tug. The models come with either one pod or two.

The Hydrans gain their Mule Light Tactical Transport, Pegasus Scout, and Saracen Frigate Leader. In the 7000 Scale, they get three collections: Tug Collection, Convoy Collection, and Special Ships Collection. The Tug Collection has Caravan tugs with and without cargo pallets, a Mule light tactical transport with a pallet, two separate pods, and a Gendarme police ship to provide an escort. The Convoy Collection has two large freighters, two small freighters, a Gendarme police cutter, and a Heavy Gendarme Police Frigate. The Special Ships Collection contains two Demon Hunter Heavy War Destroyers, a Pegasus Scout, two light cruisers (a Horseman and a Traveler), and a Kiowa War Dreadnought.

The Andromedans gain their Krait Battle Destroyer. If that weren't bad enough, they also reveal their X-Ship X-Conquistador.

ADB Releases Ships for August, 2020

On August 3, 2020, ADB released a total of 25 new items to its shop on Shapeways with over 2,200 items available in total. Notably, we added more ships in the 7000 Scale that is designed to allow you to play with multiple ships on a "regular" map with 5/8-inch hexes. Please note that all ships are available in both 3788 and 3125 scales unless specifically noted, and then they are only available in the scale noted.

The Gorns have their Heavy Destroyer Dreadnought in both the regular and refitted versions.

The Orions gain their Gunboat/PF Tender.

The Hydrans gain their Hun Fast Medium Cruiser. In the 7000 Scale, they get two collections: Legacy Cruisers Collection and New Cruisers Collection. The Legacy Cruisers Collection has the Horseman Light Fusion Cruiser, Traveler Light Hellbore Cruiser, Dragoon Heavy Hellbore Cruiser, and Ranger Heavy Fusion Cruiser. The New Cruisers Collection has two Mongol Fusion War Cruisers, two Tartar Hellbore War Cruisers, one Mohawk Fusion New Heavy Cruiser, and one Iroquois Hellbore New Heavy Cruiser.

The Lyrans and their wayward county of the Lyran Democratic Republic gain the Leopard-M Minesweeper. Note that LDR ships are only in the 3125 Scale. The Lyrans also get the same ship in a "refitted" version with aztecking in the 3788 Scale.

The WYNs gain their Orca-F Fast War Cruiser.

Empires from the Omega Octant continue to have new additions. The Logistics Base is the latest addition to Probr fleet. The Trobrin get their Small Station.

The Old Galaxy Pirates from the M81 Galaxy, the home galaxy of the Tholians, are a new addition. They gain their Pirate Raider.

Continuing to build the new Tournament Ships category, the 7000 Scale gets two more Tournament Collections with the ships that are used in Star Fleet Battles tournaments. The fourth collection contains the Romulan Tournament King Eagle, Romulan FireHawk Tournament Cruiser, Seltorian Tournament Heavy Cruiser, Frax Tournament Command Cruiser, Flivver Tournament Heavy Cruiser, and Vudar Tournament Heavy Cruiser. The 4A collection has the same ships with the FireHawk designed in the "cranked arrow" style.

ADB Releases Ships for September, 2020

On September 1, 2020, ADB released a total of 46 new items to its shop on Shapeways with nearly 2,300 items available in total. Please note that all ships are available in both 3788 and 3125 scales, except when noted.

The Romulans now have their K5R Frigate which is noticeably different from the Klingon original by its change in weaponry and scallops on its wings.

The Gorns gain X-ships with the appearance of the Advanced Destroyer and Advanced Battle Destroyer in both the regular and refitted versions.

The Kzintis have their Drone Bombardment Destroyer and Destroyer Leader, ships that will be in Captain's Log #54.

The Lyrans and their wayward county of the Lyran Democratic Republic gain the Black Cheetah Heavy Frigate, Black Leopard Heavy Destroyer, and Frigate Scout. Note that LDR ships are only in the 3125 Scale. The Lyrans also get the same ships in a "refitted" version with aztecking in the 3788 Scale.

The Borak, neighbors of the Hydrans (according to Hydran disinformation, in reality they were conquered by the Hydrans), show up in force. They gain their Frigate, Destroyer, Light Cruiser/War Cruiser (the ship only varies by what weapon is mounted in its turret and both weapons are attached to this miniature), and Heavy Cruiser. The Frigate and Destroyer are also available in a sprue of two ships.

The Paravians were thought to have been wiped out by a sun snake that destroyed their sun while the Gorns had them blockaded on their homeworld. (The Gorns had good reason to do this as the Paravians had decided the Gorns were demons and needed to be eliminated from the galaxy.) They gain their Frigate, War Destroyer, War Cruiser, and Heavy Cruiser. Coincidentally, the Omega Paravian versions of these ships will be in Captain's Log #54.

New Release in Our Shop on Shapeways!

A new sort of space creature started showing up in the off-map "coreward" parts of the Alpha Octant. What became known as space tarantulas finally showed up in the well-mapped portions of the Federation toward the end of the General War. Gorns and Kzintis confirmed encounters with these creatures. Genetically related to space spiders (see Captain's Log #50), these space tarantulas may have been changed by the Radiation Zone. In some ways, they are certainly more deadly.

Space tarantulas are nearly impossible to detect at over 40,000 kilometers away. When they are within 30,000 kilometers, they can cast a strand of web at a ship and then jump on the ship itself. The space tarantula then "kills" its prey by using its dozen legs and six fangs to damage the shields of the ship and then the ship. Even its web strands can damage the ship!

Even worse for non-spacefaring worlds, the space tarantula's webs reflect light. When it builds its 5,000-kilometer radius nest for its eggs, it severely impacts the weather on the planet. Even worse, when the the space tarantula babies hatch, they will ravage the planet as they look for metal, which is what they "eat."

The space tarantula is available in four scales: 7000 Scale (1/7000) which can be used as baby space tarantulas, Omni which can be used for the young space tarantulas, 3788 Scale (1/3788) which while scaled to accompany the 3788 Scale ships, can be used as young adult space tarantulas, and 3125 Scale (1/3125) which matches our 3125 Scale ships and can be used as the adult space tarantula.

The space tarantula is available in a variety of materials. The creatures are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources (the 7000 Scale version has a stand that is built in), and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.

Much thanks to Matthew Lawson for making the space tarantula come to life!

ADB Releases Ships for October, 2020

On October 1, 2020, ADB released a total of 37 new items to its shop on Shapeways with over 2,300 items available in total. Notably this month we released our first armored vehicles and tanks in 285 Scale; these are for the Klingons and Romulans. Please note that all ships are available in both 3788 and 3125 scales, except when noted.

The Klingons gain their B8 Combined Dreadnought. With more aztecking, it is also available as the B8K Combined Dreadnought. The name for the Klingon armored vehicles is "Kral." The vehicles and tanks are all in 285 Scale and in sprues of four except as indicated. The Klingons have Armored Personnel Vehicles (APVs), Ground Assault Vehicles (GAVs), Ground Combat Vehicles (GCVs), Ground Weapon Vehicles (GWVs), and Air Defense Vehicles (ADVs). The Combat Engineer Vehicles (CEVs) and Command Vehicles (CPVs) are combined with two of each on the sprue. The Kraz'Nik Tank also comes in 285 Scale with four to a sprue.

The codename for the Romulan armored vehicles and tanks is "Cassowary" after the ground-based bird. The vehicles and tanks are all in 285 Scale and in sprues of four except as indicated. The Romulans have Armored Personnel Vehicles (APVs), Ground Assault Vehicles (GAVs), Ground Combat Vehicles (GCVs), Ground Weapon Vehicles (GWVs), and their Tanks. The Combat Engineer Vehicles (CEVs) and Command Vehicles (CPVs) are combined with two of each on the sprue.

To bring in supplies for all those armored vehicles and tanks, there is the General version of the Ground Cargo Truck. In the 285 Scale, these are four to a sprue.

Space Tarantulas appeared in Captain's Log #54 as a danger to shipping, planets, and to smaller warships. Miniatures of these creatures are available in increasingly larger sizes in 7000, Omni, 3788, and 3125 scales.

The Borak, neighbors of the Hydrans (according to Hydran disinformation, in reality they were conquered by the Hydrans), gain more ships. They now have their Destroyer Scout, Destroyer Leader, Fast Destroyer, Gunship, and Battlecruiser. They also have two types of fighters: the Fighter-Destroyers which are manned and the Hunter-Killers which are not. Two types of gunboat flotillas are also available: the regular Gunboats and Assault Gunboats.

The Paravians were thought to have been wiped out by a sun snake that destroyed their sun while the Gorns had them blockaded on their homeworld. (The Gorns had good reason to do blockade them as the Paravians had decided the Gorns were demons and needed to be eliminated from the galaxy.) The Paravians gain their Fleet Raiding Collection which includes a heavy cruiser, war cruiser, two war destroyers, and two frigates in 7000 Scale.
