Nice work as always - except for one quibble.
The positioning of the Fed BC (and I'm sure that this is strictly a complete fluke due to the angle it's being viewed at) makes the ship's "neck" look overly long, imo. I look at it and think, "Giraffe".
But the head-on approach between that ship and the King Eagle looks great, and so I guess it's a trade-off. Can't have the latter without the former, and can't lose the former without losing the latter.
Other than that, it's another great image that will make a fine cover. |

Actually, I may have a quibble.
If those two red orbs are supposed to be photons, then they are coming from the wrong spot. The "neck" weapons on the battlecruiser included in Romulan Border/Space are Pl-F, not photons. Photons should come from the top of the saucer.
If those two red orbs are supposed to be Pl-F torpedoes, then it is correct.
That King Eagle is beautiful, though. _________________

Junior - I guess it's just the angle. It's neck is the exact same length as the CA.
mjwest - They're photons. The New Jersey had them mounted in that position. I really wanted to show the BCH firing photons. At first I tried having them look like they were coming from the top of the saucer. It looked very awkward. I couldn't fix it without changing the angle of the whole scene and I wanted to keep that view of the KE.
Thanks for the comments so far guys! _________________ The innocent shall suffer...BIG TIME. |

Well, the BC in Romulan Border/Space is the Bismark, not the New Jersey. (The New Jersey is in Klingon Attack.)
But, if you can't make it work, then I figure no one else is going to catch it. I certainly don't want you to change the view of the King Eagle. It is great! _________________

Wow! Just incredible.
I don't know how hard it is, since I'm not sure if those are 2D or 3D graphics you use to make it, but you could just lower the pitch of the BC by 40 degrees or so... _________________ O.G. OPTIMUS

If he did that, then the angle of approach between the Fed BC and the Romulan wouldn't be right. There is, unfortunately, a very good reason why the BC is angled that way. |

I think it's a very dynamic cover Adam. Great work. |

Why is that? Does anything say the ships have to be in the same plane to fight (which is what I'm assuming that you are referring to)? _________________ O.G. OPTIMUS

Aplying 40 degrees negative pitch to the CV would indeed bring saucer -top mounted photons into arc for firing, but I am not sure the scene would look right then. The CV would be at an increasingly negative angle of attack vis-a-vis the Romulan.
I think the source material is pretty clear thatships do not move freely and indendantly on the X, Y, and Z axes. A ship cannot move "sideways" or straight vertically, but instead must change its angle by adjusting pitch, yaw and roll. That is to say they manouver like fixed-wing rather than rotory-wing aircraft.
"Realistic"? Perhaps not, but it seems to be the way ship movement works. |

Actually, the BC doesn't need to change its pitch to fire the photons from the top. In the simple case, just remove the red effect from the edge of the saucer and bad. In the complex case, just "lower" the BC without changing pitch. It isn't really in the same plan as the KE as it is, so lowering shouldn't hurt.
(But, this is all a nit. The picture looks good as is.) _________________

I've got two questions.
On the Rom, what are the two circles forward of the bird? Landing gear?
And second, though I'm sure it is a snake waiting to bite me , but what will the 'Romulan Space' product be?
As for the photons, what if the red streak were left off or shortened drasticly. Most observerers will recognize what they are anyway. |

Another factor I had to consider in laying out this scene was not having the ships too high or low, since they shouldn't intersect the title or logos. There's a surprisingly delicate balance of all the different elements of this cover.

Yes, those are landing gear hatches. _________________ The innocent shall suffer...BIG TIME. |

Landing gear? Hmm....
This cover makes me want to preorder Romulan Space today, despite not knowing what the product is. |
