1. I would expect that those checks, like the WYN logo and the black stripes are perfect fodder for decals.
2. Those checks are "artistic license". Just ignore them. _________________

Yup.
I would expect the WYN to have a less professional attitude toward the "customizing" of the appearence of ships given the type of ships that the Cluster ordinarily fields. So unusual marks wouldn't be out of the question. Presumeably the checks in this case are a decision made by the squadron commander, since all four of the "fish ships" are displaying them.
The WYN ship on the cover of Booster #0 didn't have any unusual markings on its wings. So I think it's safe to say that you can ignore the markings if you choose. |

The stripes and checks are artistic license. But without them, the WYN ships were very, very plain. And in other fleets, painted decorations are not unheard of. Most notably, the Romulans, Lyrans, Feds, Hydrans, and the Orions. So I figured why not the WYN's too?
I also liked how this paint job reminded me of the ships from Homeworld and Homeworld2(two of my very favorite PC games).
If anyone decides to paint their WYN fleet based on this picture, make sure you post photos! I wanna see 'em! _________________ The innocent shall suffer...BIG TIME. |

Actually I quite like the idea of those checks - the relative plainess of the ships before were a reason I hadn't bought many of the miniatures. Maybe I should take up your challenge
Need to finish the models I have first though. |

Oh, I realize that the checks are not part of a "canon" paint scheme, but I still like them. The only reason I've not painted the fish ships I picked up at Origins is because I didn't like the paint white paint job and didn't have any ideas for spicing it up... now I do!

This is just an idea, but I'm throwin' it out there.
If anyone ever wants paint guides for SFU ships, I'd be more than happy to render orthographic views of my models for reference and e-mail to you. So if anyone ever needs something like that, just ask. _________________ The innocent shall suffer...BIG TIME. |

Actually that would be a really nifty idea, only, instead of emailing them to the individual hobbyist, you should give them to SVC. Maybe he could put them up on the website along with the currently existing painting guides - afterall, yours would be much more graphically exciting than the old scans of black and white paper painting guides! |

That's a good idea. I'll bug him about that when he gets back from Vegas. _________________ The innocent shall suffer...BIG TIME. |

VEGAS! Steve's in Vegas...
I wonder why he's there? And I hope Leanna knows about it... _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Well, considering that Leanna is the reason he is there, I figure she knows about it ...

I knew that. I was just endeavoring (and very poorly, apparently) to be humorous. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Adam, I'd love to see orthographic views of the ships - as a sad engineer type, I like the nice neat ordered views presented.
More importantly, the more I see of your art work the more I enjoy it, and want to paint miniatures (which I'm rubbish at, but what the heck).
