Beautiful as-always.
However, is the phaser shot from the Klingon wing phaser emitting from the right spot? The phaser is on the lower surface of the manta-hull (as depicted on the other side of the ship), but the beam seems to be coming from the upper corner. Just wondering. |

Will,man... you gotta suspend your disbelief and just enjoy the artwork, rather than getting hung upon the petty details - such as smoking contrails from the two drones (which were launched in the vacuum of soace) _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Great artwork, Adam! I was wondering how this product was going to look. I'd planned on getting it and now am certain. |

I, too, initially thought the "wing" phaser beam was coming from the top of the hull. But, after looking at it again, I think it is clearly coming from the bottom. Looking at it again, I don't even think it could come from the top, because of the angle the Klingon is at.
BTW, is this a D5D and MDC? _________________

As usual, Adam - awesome artwork. I need to get some poster sized-versions of my favorites to hang on the wall of my someday, gaming room. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

This is where I have the wing phasers situated on my D7. If this is incorrect in some way, let me know so I can fix it for future images:
And thanks guys! I had fun with this one. I know drones wouldn't have smoke trailing behind them in space, but if this image was totally realistic wouldn't be able to see the ships at all.
Fun fact: Those smoke trails made this picture take over 9 hours to render. [/code] _________________ The innocent shall suffer...BIG TIME. |

I think the phasers need to be pushed down to that lower point on the hull there so that they get thier rear cross-deck arcs. As positioned, they can't fire to the rear.
But beautiful work, man. |

I love the smoke trails. They don't make sense, but things in a "suspend your disbelief" game don't have to. They were on the cover of SFB Module R6, so there is certainly precedent.
I do like the smoke trails on Adam's better though. The vector-changes are cool.
Regarding the phaser, yeah it isn't in the traditional location for the ADB D-7 (which was based on the 1975 McMaster blueprints).
I believe it should be on the lower corner:
Here's a link to the relevant sheet of the McMaster prints:

Oh, don't get me wrong... I love the smoke trails and feel that they are a necessary part of the artwork... just like the fiery explosions that shouldn't happen in space, but are omipresnet in every Sci-Fi movie ever made.
As for the phaser locations, Will is correct. That is also the location of the phasers as shown on all of SVC's line drawings and on the miniature for the D6/7. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

The new BattleStar Galactica has come closer to reality than most when it comes to explosions in space.
There is a brief puff of flame as the atmosphere contained in the ship vents catastrophically then nothing. |

You're welcome. Enjoy it while it lasts - like Napster, I don't think that party will last for too long. |
