I like as well. Nifty little nod to the geeks with the shovel-handle phaser-rifle. |

Minor correction here: This art is going on PD D20 Feds. The other one I did will be used for Modern. _________________ The innocent shall suffer...BIG TIME. |

Nicely done sir.
And a female captain to boot!
Love the old school phaser rifle. _________________ O.G. OPTIMUS

Just like I loved the other cover which at the time you said would be for PD20 Feds, I love this one.
Might be time to switch to d20 in fact... |

Great stuff Adam. However, I feel that the Captain ought to have the Classic Trek Mini-Skirt plus GoGo boots ensemble.
However, that's just me perving......

My understanding is that Leanna and Vanessa vetoed the miniskirts.
I can't say I blame them, but I can't say that I won't miss them either |

My students had already taken their final exam, so today in class we watched the remastered version of the TOS episode "Arena" and the first half of "The Doomsday Machine." Most of the kids had never seen Star Trek before and were awed by it.
Anyway, some of the girls commented about those miniskirts and how uncomfortable it would be to work while wearing something like that.
Interesting... |

For the record, I do want to note that the arm rank bands are straight Classic Trek, and not the retcon that SVC has made for the SFU ...
(This is not a complaint. I actually like the Classic Trek rank bands. But SVC does not. So you might want to check on that with him ...) _________________

Oh, and by the way, tomorrow will be the second half of "The Doomsday Machine" and hopefully all of "City on the Edge of Forever." The kids are looking forward to it! |

"City on the Edge of Forever" - one of my favourite episodes. "Charlie X" and "The Conscience of the King" are 2 other favourites, along with "Balance of Terror".
How do the re-masters compare Mike? _________________ Nothing is quite as persuasive as a disruptor pistol on slow burn and a rotisserie...... |

The remastered TOS episodes are definitely worth getting, if you're thinking about it.
When TOS came out on DVD they digitized everything and did some "cleaning," but not like they've done with the remastered ones. Those are *very* clean.
All the space shots are fantastic compared to the original film. The CGI images of the ships are much better. You also get to see a variety of "camera angles" outside the ships. The planets are realistic.
The phasers and photons are blue and compare exactly with TNG, Enterprise, or any of the other series.
They left the transporter effect exactly as it was. They also did not change the images of ships moving at warp speed. No fancy streaking colors or deformed hulls. Just stars passing by as in the original film.
About all of the shots on the surfaces of planets have been redone. The big panoramic paintings from the original have been replaced with computer generated artwork that shows the same things, but with moving elements included such as people walking around or trams zipping along.
You can visit startrek.com to see a 4 minute video montage of a whole lot of the special effects.
One of my favorites is the Gorn's blinking eyes. It was a small addition, but added so much to those scenes.
The Mt. Everest of remastering, however, was The Doomsday Machine. It is almost unbelievable what they did to that episode. It aired on TV and I was able to drool, I mean, watch it. It was available only for a very short time on Itunes when CBS suddenly established a policy of making only the 1st season episodes available for purchase. Those lucky ducks who got it are extremely fortunate. It is a 2nd season show.
With all the shakeups at startrek.com (the whole staff was fired), it remains to be seen what will happen. I don't know the status of the remastering effort or if it was connected in any way with what happened at startrek.com.
Sorry to ramble on about this. I know it isn't "Cover Art," but since I was asked... |

The 2nd season has been delayed to summer at best.
I love the first season (though I don't have an HD DVD player), and can't wait for more. I LOVED the Doomsday Machine and I can't wait to see the externals in The Ultimate Computer. _________________ O.G. OPTIMUS
