I need help. F5 vs Fed FF.

No matter how often I try this combo, my poor F5 gets trounced in a duel. Even with a floating map, I find that the Fed FF just has too much power compared to the F5. Sabre dancing doesn't accomplish much when he can rotate 5 points of shields every turn. 82 points vs 78 points just doesn't sound ...

If I were in this situation, I would ensure that all three Cuirassiers stay collocated until after the first battle pass. My plan would be to stay evasive at all times until able to close to range 2 or less (preferably range 0), attempting to centreline the C7 if at all possible.

On a fixed map, I ...

We've always played it that way, but upon going through the rulebook with a few new players, I just couldn't find the reference to "turn and sideslip set to zero upon launch".

Thanks for the clarification Mike.

Initial Move after Launch

In (2C3b), the rules state that seeking weapons must move one hex (after launch) before they can turn. The same is said for shuttles.

Can either or both sideslip on that initial hex of movement?

Our group tends to handle HET's the same way as "me too firing" situations.

In other words, if player A declares a HET, then player B has the option to declare one as well, if he so chooses. Then they are conducted as per the order of precedence. If the player to move second no longer needs to HET ...

To quote Briefing #1:

(2D4d) Spending power to continue Evasive Maneuvers over the turn break counts as an "Announcement" for the purposes of Termination. Consequently, if Evasive Maneuvers are continued over a turn break, they may not be terminated until Impulse #3.

According to how I read this ...

Was it ever mentioned why the continuation of EM during energy allocation counts as "starting" EM for the purposes of cancelling EM later?

Many's the time I have been witness to ships being evasive for over 8 impulses and the optimum time for dropping EM occurs on impulse 1 or 2.

Anyone know the ...

So does this mean that in order to start EM on Impulse #2 and plan to fire on Impulse #5, I have to announce both beginning and ending EM after defensive fire on Impulse #2?

This sounds kinda wacky.

The way the rules read to me is:

"(2D4d) Evasive Maneuvers continue until the end of the turn or ...

Just so I'm clear, there is no way to actually be evasive for the direct fire phase of Impulse #1, and still be able to fire on Impulse #2. Is this correct?

Sorry if I didn't come across the right way, or was in any way unclear.

I don't deny that fighters cost VP. I just wanted to know where their crippled VP value was written, if anywhere. As far as I know, they count as a special type of shuttle (which previously awarded no VPs), so I assumed that ...

TJ, where did you find the rules that you quoted? Perhaps my rulebook is out of date. Romulan border plus Briefing #1.

Looking through the rules I have, Romulan Border states that you can repair yourself back out of being crippled.

The partial points for Stingers you detail I have not found in any ...

Crippled....

A couple of questions:

According to the rulebook, "Crippling is defined as causing internal damage equal to one-half of all boxes."

Does this include frame damage? We've never counted admin shuttle damage or marine casualties for this total as it didn't seem like internal damage to the ship. Is ...

I could use some tactical advice here....

(Squadron Scale)

I am having significant difficulty in taking down a 140 point Base Station with my 147 point Fed CA.

We are using the Sensor rules from Communique 28 (so the BS has two Special Sensors) and it seems that I just can't get the hang of base assaulting.

If I sit at range, my photons ...

But what happens when the shield is 10 points, and I reinforce it to absorb the extra damage?

In this case, the shield was not penetrated (as I reinforced it). This would mean that the burn through would penetrate armor and hit internal systems, no?

I thought that I should only reinforce the ...
