Those appear to be very close to the drawings in the Star Fleet Technical Manual.

This was the first time we had used a mauler weapon and it brought up a question, so I'll ask it here.

We assumed that the Mauler ship had to actually store energy in its batteries like batteries store energy in SFB. Was this correct?

As a former SFB Hydran player I almost never flew fusion ships. I'd rather have hellbores for the ships, fusions for the disposable Stingers, and keep the number of fighters per ship small exactly as it is on hellbore ships. Especially in FC where they may never introduce fighters for other races ...

To tell truth, I woulda been happy with the no fusion/yes hellbore hydrans and if possible, no fighters.

So if frigates are so good, I bet orions must be pretty tough.

They actually are like big frigates.

Unlike in SFB, there's no limit to the number of shield boxes that you can repair in one turn. And with doubled engines, Orions sometimes find themselves looking for excuses to spend power.

Well the only other disadvantage that the Orion's have is in FC they can't double their engines and 'tank it up' with massive shield reinforcement.

Try a good shot to eliminate the LR as fast as you can. Save your PG for the P-F's.
