You can only tractor one ship at a time (5D6B) - you could release a ship and tractor it or another later that turn, but you'd need a fresh Tractor box - each one can only be used once per turn.

HETs are announced at the start of the sub-pulse - 2D2a - and executed during it in move order.

Re: 2 questions re: HETs and Shield Position

What kind of scenario could you find yourself where you declare and cancel an HET in the same sun-pulse?

Actual example: I had a Destroyer in a hidden-objective multiplayer scenario where my target was a Fed Dreadnought. I'd pick speed 24, he was doing 16, and I'd lied my way into a firing ...

By my reading of the scenario, you become a Free Agent by "drawing" your own target marker - ie. getting it in the pre-scenario draw NOT by acquiring it in the game. So B would not become a Free Agent.

I would say that both B and C can claim to have destroyed A (damage is simultaneous, and both ...

Coming back to this after a holiday ...

I still disagree that the FF will win every time.

1) Just because the enemy is in my FA arc doesn't mean I'm in his FA arc.

In the situation we are talking about (on the approach, range 9 to 15) he'd need to be playing pretty badly not to have your ship ...

Without the planet, the target ship player could choose either shield facing through which to take the fire. There seems to be two possible outcomes:
1. The fire would not be able to occur if the target chose the shield that was more in line with the planet, ...

I don't think that's right.

You ...

The Saber Dance is the Klingon tactic of choice. I found it difficult to believe that saber dancing at range 15 against a Fed leads to your death. The Fed can't hit a barn at range 15 (1 out of 6 to hit). The F5 is more manueverable, too. I would be amazed to see a good Klingon captain defeated by ...

All true in Squadron scale, as well, and the F5 always loses. The one minor disadvantage the FF has on the fleet scale conversion is that it has no Fleet Scale representation for the P3s (but it does round the 3 P1s to 2 P1s, which is a shade better that the F5 rounding 3 P2s to 2).

In either scale ...

The F5 is better in Fleet scale.

I doubt it. The FF has the same decisive advantage in both scales - it's paying half as much as its opponent for movement. It can do maximum speed holding full overload(s) under EM until ready to fire. Fleet scale is a bit more of a lottery, of course, with just ...

Well, going by the list in (1E1), and the wording of (1D2), I think that choosing your baseline speed comes before anything else in energy allocation.

The Player Reference Card list 'pay to continue Tractor Beams' as the last item in energy allocation.

We have always played it with the steps ...

junior, when we have multiple ships moving simultaneously, we scribble a quick note on the ship card (using the dry erase marker):
SL - slip left
ST - Straight
TR - turn right
CX - cancel move
HET - HET

Although HETs are declared at the start of the movement sub-pulse (2D2a), though executed ...

Re: A horrific Battle

the battle was ruthless, the Romulans entered cloaked

If I were the Klingon, I would be rapidly re-considering my alliances:

Transmission intercepted:

"Captain, I confirm that we are now at the rendevous, and in position to assist our Romulan allies...er, Captain, the whole Romulan fleet just ...

should this thread, stop?

there are 14000 views, but I am not sure if anyone gets any value from it any longer.

I read the turn reports and battle reports with interest, but the frequent re-posting of the campaign rules (IMVHO) really screws up the readability of this thread.

Especially when ...

the +4 to the range and die roll...the bolt still has to roll to hit and will suffer the +4 to die rolls

Cloaks don't affect die rolls, though, just range and damage.

The Gorn shouldn't have fired the Fs at all, IMHO. As soon as they're gone, it'll take three turns before he gets the option to ...

Re: Battle!

The Gorn admiral must be kicking himself for that.

One query:
PallidaMors wrote:The romulan flagship had completly restored thier front shield at the end of turn 1
Don't shield repairs happen at the start of the turn? Or are you talking about something else?
