Keeping track of turn modes is easier if you use the turn/slip markers.

I dont use the turn/slip markers as it makes the map completely cluttered and very confusing to work out what is going on. As Kang mentioned earlier, we use poker chips. You get 1 white chip for each movement you made since ...

Nice report Kang. Loved Paul's counters - are they scanned in from the megahex counters then mounted on the card?

Afraid not. I mailed on the forum a while back asking for scans of the ships. SVC said he would look at doing them in 72dpi, but that never transpired.

I then scanned in the counters ...

I've ruled that if a photon tube gets damaged whilst it was pre-loaded, or even loaded, the torpedo in there is lost and once repaired, you have to start over again.

I'm also tempted to rule the same for plasma weapons until something is made clear officially with proper errata and appearing in a ...

I do agree though that the way the rulebook describes this is not entirely clear

Surprise, Surprise. Seriously, with all the communique's, rules updates, briefing #1, etc, I really wish someone would 'fix' some of the parts of the basic rulebook which need rewording. This is definitely one, but ...

The way I have interpreted the rules is that all HET's are done at the start of a sub-pulse, before anything actually moves.

If 2D2a suggests that you can do a HET in a sub-pulse when you arent scheduled to move, I cant see any other time to do them.

Take a D7 moving 16. Can it HET in sub-pulse 1 ...

1) Smaller Fed or Bigger Klingon. :) But I'm guessing this is not the answer you are looking for. To keep more in what I perceive to be the spirit of the scenario...

Tis exactly what I'm looking for. In fact, that I think this alone might "fix" the scenario.

2) Put the D7 about 24 (?) hexes in ...

Scenario Questions 8E - Iridima Colony

Mike has suggested that queries on the rules of scenarios should be posted in here.

So, based on my email in the general discussion forum, I am moving the "relevant bits" to this area. Apologies if this means all the information is in 2 places, but I have stripped out only the parts that relate to ...

From what I remember, this is another "quirk" in the rules :)

When a drone impacts: You can first use ADD, then if that doesnt work, use phasers, and finally whn all else fails tractor it.

At the start of the turn, you have to pay for the tractor, but if you dont, then when it gets to the ...

I dont think that is a house rule. Isnt that in the core rules of the game for plasma weapons?

I think the reason Kang queried it is that plasma-F weapons start off fully charged, loaded and ready to fire. This is because the cost to hold a Plasma-F in a Plasma-F tube is zero.

Re: After- Action Report for ‘Pirates….Interrupted’

Excellent report Tony. I wish more people would post their scenario reports on here :)

In addition, the game was played using some interesting hybrid mini stands/counters, of which I’m hoping that Paul will post pictures on the forum.

There are a number of things I have 'changed' with my game ...

Capturing ships with Marines

Last night, 6 Gorn marines beamed over to a Large Freighter to try and take control of it. Because there are no marines on board the frieghter, it was just a case of scoring 4 casualty hits, since there are 4 orange boxes on the freighter.

At the end of turn 1, they scored 1 casualty. How do you ...

Tractoring suicide freighters?

We played 8K3 last night, and the attackers wanted to know if they could tractor the suicide freighter and drag it along behind them. We said no, since I feared they could just drag it along at speed 24, drop it near the base and it would all be over quickly.

But, I couldnt find anything in the ...

Are you saying that the energy for the 4 impulses of cloak does come out of the energy they get for turn 1?

If this is the case, then it doesnt really make a difference game-wise.
If they pre-pay at the start of the turn or just pay on the first 4 impulses, the effect is the same.

The question is ...

The note about cloaking is there to say they have spent the power. It doesn't mean they have to stay under cloak. It just means they start under cloak, and have spent the power for four impulses of cloaking costs. The effect of this rule is that the Romulans start cloaked without having already ...

I think Paul's tactic was a good one

In retrospect, I played it completely wrong! What I should have done (I think) is run away for 4 turns as best I could. Simply looking at the points values, the Romulans come in nearly 3x that of the Fed ship. When I first read the scenario, I assumed it was a ...
