My group has played fighters. Many of us are used to playing sfb fighters tho so it was ok, but it is time consuming. In order to keep with the pacing of FC but still have fighters we wondered what might be done.

The Vudar still need testing. I have done some testing myself, and I have to admit that the IPGs are terribly unsatisfying. Just their very presence influences enemy actions, but I can see where they will be used so seldom that they feel extraneous.

The biggest problem I have seen with the x-ships, and we play them often, is that they just cant stand toe to toe with bigger ships of the same value. They are fast, and manuverable, and they can hit hard. But to win in FC with an x-ship you need to really make sure you outmanuver your opponent.

I know little of omega, I have the expansion. The omega seeking missles are very customizable compared to normal drones. Drones in FC come in one flavor, 12 damage, speed 24. there is provision for speed 32 in some cases. thats it.

but in fedcom, you cant complicate rules. The best bet is to pre-design 3 types of drones. One thats heavy on speed and defenses, on thats heavy on damage, and one thats middle of the road. then people take what they want without having to design the drone before the game or explain all the space ...

drones have effect in fedcom, and I find them very useful, all I am saying is, they are less effective in fedcom then they are in sfb.

umm... anti drone capabilities are not reduced in FC. IMHO killing drones is much simpler in FC then in SFB.

There are fewer options for killing drones though. No t-bombs being probably the biggest one.

You could always premake a couple drone types. Common setups that people might chose. say, 3 designs. Make them part of the actual rules. Players have to announce the drone type they are going with, and you cant mix them.
