Klingon Parthians?

But Parthians had their own cataphracts, too, as well as their horse archers.

The Klingons are dangerous at any range. Their opponents are the ones with preferrred ranged.

In the series, they were very sneak, and agressive too. The two are not necessarily incompatible.

No warrior, of any race ...

yes, but

I voted on the set, although I would much rather be able to order specific PDFs of the ships I want from any set at $5-$10 per.

cloaked targets

I am no expert by far, but already I have learnd a few things to remember:

A cloaked ship cannot move fast, nor shoot.

You can outmanuevre them very easily. Stay out of launch arcs as much as possible.

Get on its "six" and stay there, but beware of their HET when they uncloak.

They have to phase ...

maps and maneuvers

Does anyone really use a fixed map? Location seems to be the norm.

With that much space, there is plentyof room for a few passes, by which time the goals have likely been achieved and one can fight at a closer distance.

So much for space-to-time-to-damage ratio theory...

plasma extrapolation

I surmise, then, that the Fed players here recommend middle ranged fire versus plasma armed vessels, not overloading torpedoes, but using that energy saved for flying fast (like away from plasma).

wow

All excellent advice, and mirroring my own thinking, I am proud to say for someone new to all this.

So far, all my experience is in dueling, but will join into squadron sized actions this weekend. Concentrated phasers makes for more tactical choices about photons. It also means the half OL option ...

Do the Federation players generally find it more desirable to overload and hold, or to load, and overload when firing? Under what conditions do you chose either option?

I get the impression it might be better to load, to allow for long range fire, and overload just when an enemy gets close.

Now ...

similarity

The ship designs for the Federation and the Klingons showed great similarity (i.e saucer + body or not + X number of nacelles for the Feds) from the earliest Star Trek sources onward. Likewise, the Klinks have their arched fusilages with nacelles plus boom no matter whether a scout or a ...

DC/BC FC

I am about to introduce FC to the Army of Central Maryland wargame club which meets Sundays at Games and Comics and Stuff in Glen Burnie (yes, not very Central, I know).

Come join us on March 22 at 1pm-5pm!!!

I live in Crofton and am a new, but very enthusiastic player.

Oh my - those are some eagles! I'll just have to redo mine...

As for the decal - mount it, then use a pin to prick the spot where the post will go through. Use an exacto to cut a cross. The srand shoudl fit right through, and the decal will close over the peg.

photo explanations

The "battle scene" is just a vignette to get the ships in the picture. I try to keep my Klingons 15 hexes away from photon armed vessels! Of course, the Feds have different plans.

I do like how the Klingons came out, especailly since one's eye does not discern the shading as starkly as the camera ...
