I find this whole thread a little too tense. It is only a game and sowing little historical tidbits in helps make it more interesting. I like CSS, it would even get me more interested in playing the race.

In the end this is just a game with made up historys and made up ...

And sorry, but I was never on the old board. I just have been collecting and playing SFB since the early 80's. I first saw the game at Judges Guild in Decatur ILL back in ...

Most of the history has been building in this game for 30 years. I remember the 12 ships and then the first 3 expansions. (Still got them) With these new rules Nexus Magazine had loads of articles on fixing things that did not mesh well. A lot of Given history come from short stories, articles ...

Things blowing up always make things more exciting.

I do remember a NSM in Balance of Terror Seriously hurting the Big E though. Enough so it could paly dead and suck the Rom back in.

I do not miss the old commander edition blasts though. Every Andro player liked to rush a Terminator into point ...

I voted for al the alpha races.

I like the simpler system as SFB got bogged down to 1 day of Bragging, 1 day of photocoping SSD's, 4 hours of first turn set up, and 2 hours to play the first turn. Most games lasted fewer than 5 turns. FC is a lot quicker to set up and play. I also do not miss the ...

Try using Torpedos from GW'S BFG game. Thy look great and are much smaller than the ships so look right on the map.

Seems to me that with the downgraded weapons on most ships the stingers have a higher chance of getting in to hit. They may also distract your foe from the real danger, the mother ship. With no other fighters out there or even armed shuttles or Scatter packs they are still a real threat. Keep them ...

First of all this is my first posting so be nice...

I have been a SFB player on and off since the early 80's so the middle years seem old hat to me. Most of the ships seem to be the original SSD's before the Nexus/CL arms race started.

Back then most fights were one on one or small fleets ...
