"why not develop modularity for the resource savings instead of having to build more ships?"

Then by your logic EVERYBODY should have modular ships in the REAL universe.

No, I was right the first time, early Paravian help means no moularity.
Modularity would make sense for all of the races, and ...

That works for the standard universe, but why not develop modularity for the resource savings instead of having to build more ships? They live in a resource poor region, so why not decide to make the most of what resources they have?

The same end result, but developed for two different, but ...

I don't see the new Romulan ships that far out of bounds for a Paravian based warp gain.

While the new ships were certainly influenced by the Klingons, the modular concept is one of the hallmarks of Romulan innovative thinking in ship design. Outward structure may have shifted with Paravian ...

I thought he said he was writing it in pencil next year.
Then they'd have to transcribe it to ink.
From there it would have to be typed onto a computer. :P
Then it would have to get passed back and forth to get it in a format the right computer can read.
After that, it ...

Going smaller than 1/4 scale might make the model look far too odd next to the normal ships that are supposed to dock inside it.

Going larger than 1/4 scale would make measuring ranges odd, as by game scale, they should still be coming from the center point of the model.

While it could be fun to ...

I've never seen a demo program that could match what people could make simply working at a real job. Some sound close to minimum wage, but they tend to have strings attached, and rarely account for the extra time needed to do a demo right.

Anyone doing demos should be doing them because they like ...

Powerista for SFB

Jean's new toy looks rather interesting for a Fralli ship.

Are there any plans to put out an SFB SSD for the ship for more target practice for exciting SFB action?

GURPS light is probably one of the nicest ways to try out an RPG I've seen.

You get all of the core game rules and mechanics, and get to decide how well they fit for your group, without having to pay anything for them.

It isn't 'Here are some characts an a few rules to whet yur appetite.' It's ...

That got me thinking about the last Traveller character I created. The history rolls were so far out there I decided the most appropriate name was Kirk T Jameson.

History rolls can be a fun tool for building character background, but I've been creating characters long enough in enough systems I ...

I can't tell whether you are saying Traveller has levels or not. Traveller does not do levels in any way. It is a pure skill based system, modified by attributes. Traveller has no levels.
My fault for posting quickly. I meant that both GURPS and Traveller were skill based, as opposed to the d20 ...

I prefer GURPS. While it has a reputation for being an engineer's rule system, it isn't that difficult, especially with the more streamlined 4th edition.

It carries the advantage of being skill based instead of level based, as is found with the Traveller system coming soon. That allows people to ...

I've always enjoy playing Klingons with the weak rear shields, as it makes them more of a challenge.

That issue, though, didn't really exist by the time of the General War. The B refit started Y165, and it's noted most ships had the refit by the start of the war in Y168, with virtually all of them ...

Which would fit, but would also mean most of the ships would qualify for the rule.

Looking at the two I noted, the Klingon D7B is 30 fore and 22 everywhere else, and the Federation CA is 30 fore, 24 fore sides, and 20 all three rear facings, with the CA+ 30 fore and 24 everywhere else. The Gorn CA ...

Why limit the rule based on equal shielding? Early Klingon ships are the ones with a huge disparity between forward and rear shelding, and that disappeared with the B refits happening well before the ACTA:SF time frame.

The Klingon shield rule is trying to represent something that doesn't exist ...

That becomes a GM's call, then. When I run GURPS, I make sure people know what is allowed or not. I had one player who brouht in a combat knife using other GURPS books for the tech to our Prime Directive game. It could slice through heavy combat armor with ease. I simply said 'No.' as it does not ...
