I own nearly all of Federation Commander as Talon . and it felt like Talon could accommodate a fleet-focused SFU game that could play in under an hour with interesting tactical decisions. I'd definitely buy one if it happened, but I understand the scale here and that it doesn't seem likely.

The taped panel seems to be one of the 12 panels I have for play, and it connects to the other 11, unlike other stiffener panels I've received.

Darn, I love the map panels.

Even my messed up panel that had tape on it for some reason.

It's not discontinued, it's just that the counters are out of stock. They will be reprinted, although I do not know exactly when.

This is a pretty great forum. Low traffic most of the time but people respond quickly to new posts.

If it seems like something you should always do, there's probably a good reason for that.

Or to be more explicit, try playing that way and see how it works.

Also, the "bridge crew" version of the game was created specifically so that the FASA Starship Tactical Combat Simulator could be used as the ship vs ship battle component of FASA's then-current Star Trek Roleplaying Game.

To be accurate, the bridge crew version of the game was created for the ...

One thing I liked about FASA Trek's starship combat rules was that you could have a "bridge crew" handling the ship's functions, which was great for an RPG.

Was a bit awkward in most circumstances, though.

I have a vague recollection that the Federal Republic of Aurora over in the Omega sector used altered scale photons - no doubt Gary C will be able to provide a more knowledgeable answer!

Yep. OE23.0, altered scale photon torpedoes. Have heavy (3 points per turn to arm) and light (1 point per turn ...

*Originally published version* has four photons, yes.

Decades later, ADB translated more Air Force tapes and discovered that it, in-universe, it was originally built with two and the "Franz Joseph DD" we all know (with 4) was a refit of it.

I think the last time I got anything new for the game was in 2001 or 2002. Maybe 2003 at the latest. At some point in that time frame I ended up putting everything in storage, and I only just recently got it back out. I'm still trying to find the last bits (R7, Omega 1-3, Y1) but there are only a ...
