Pin vices are available in several sizes and can take large enough drills for base pins. They are more controllable than an electrical drill is at low speeds.

Hmmm. You learn something new every day. I've had older, lead figures turn a discolored white... but never knew what caused it.

I googled this one. It seems that there are a lot of museums that are having this problem. Their model ships have lead fittings which are corroding because they are kept ...

Actually, SVC is correct. Lead does indeed take and hold detail better than pewter.

You are coreect in that the detail level of current figures has gone up, and that's a combination of better sculptors and better casting techniques... but if Reaper could still cast out of lead, you'd see some ...

Great idea, but sadly I am stuck up here in the wilds of Peter Rabbit country and due to various factors never travel further south than Sheffield. Also due to lack of time I have not even been able to put on a game at my local club. :(

Triples 2007 - Sheffield UK

Returned from Triples very dissapointed on FC front. Triples is the largest wargames show in the North of England and not one dealer was carrying Federation Commander. No one was playing it either, also not many had heard about it.

yes it is a drilling situation, the good news is that there are many types of drills.

The simplest one is called a pin vice, It is a hand held clamp which is held in one hand. If you can hold a pen you can use a pin vice. The more sophisticated versions have a archimedian screw thread for 2 handed ...

base weights

found these base weights for keeping miniatures upright, don't know if they are available in the States.

It's probably where they are originally from.

might need a bit of filing to make it fit a hex base.
