Did anyone mention the First Missions introductory rules? I skimmed a bit.
I am printing them off for a person at work to look over is why I ask.
It is how I learned the game, I had played SFB and that helped too.

Being a frugle person I think it is they way to start.

It will need some adjustments so I hope the more active players give it a try.
The starting PV and a tie breaker for number of labs for starters. Value of cards may need some help to make them meaningful.

I have been thinking about a simple campaign. Not yet having a chance to playtest it (I am waiting for RPG fatigue to set in...then I will remind my friends that there are other types of games out there!) I submit the bare bones version here for all to try and give some feed back.

Another idea might be to lay out the bridge stations, and any hit on the bridge will cause a random console or three to explode. Again, a player-character might get hurt if too close.

It is tough to use a tactical game in an RPG because it tends to leave most of the players throwing a few token dice and awaiting an out come between the GM and one player.
Totaly RPG leaves out the exciting tactical elements that give the encounter its feel. I am not a big GURPS fan...I am waiting ...
