Thanks for the heads up. I really do need to fill in my collection of CLs. Especially with that info. Even though I'm just having fun with these Ship Cards I might as well get them right.

I've been working on a Fed Com Ship Card for the Iridani Yawl-B. I think I've pretty much got it. But with there were a couple of things I've changed that I'm wondering about. First I changed the movement from 1/3 to 1/4 as FC doesn't do 1/3 movement. Also I don't believe there are APRs in FC so I ...

Outcast Armada? They are both outcasts. In the case of the Orions by choice though.

One suggestion I would make would be to add the basic movement rules option. While I like the normal movement rules I do think the basic movement rules are a better fit for the Star Fleet universe and are also easier for those new to Starmada to wrap their minds around.

Scoutdad I'm with you. I think FC is easy enough and with enough meat that it's right where I like a game in complexity. But that doesn't change the fact that it looks like the most popular minis games out right now are pretty much rules-lite. So while we may think FC is simple I think we're ...

What I was suggesting, is that perhaps a game could be developed to harness the people who play miniature games similar to WH40k, where tactical play does not play such an important role.

Simplier rules with greater customization I guess is the suggestion. It's not for everyone and I'm not ...

I wonder if maybe the movement example wasn't a little off and what was meant was an I Go You Go movement instead of pulse movement.

Actually with a little work movement would be the simplest thing to simplify. Turn mode A gets 4 turns per movement, Mode D gets 1, etc.. Speed is determined as 3 ...

Getting back to tactics, though, I think that the single most important thing thing to keep in mind is to figure out beforehand what your rough plan is going to be, and then follow through with it.

If you come up with a bad plan beforehand, then yes, you're probably going to die ...

D'oh. Just realized that something that would be very useful is to print off some copies of the First Missions pdf. We could hand them out to new players who don't yet have the rules and pass them out to those who look, but don't want to play. Sort of a time delay conversion to the game.

In this particular case it did make sense to split fire. Particularly with the weak shield strength of the Fed and Kizinti FFs in fleet scale. And if I hadn't forgotten about the HET it would have been a glorious day for the Gorn. But in this case it was like trying to herd cats. Toastie did a great ...

Yeah... I was also wondering if we didn't get bit by the holiday. At some point in the next couple of months I'd like to try it again on a regular Saturday. In the end I think we'll add slowly as we catch those who are interested. I still get the feeling that there's quiet a bit of, "I'd play, but I ...

I think there would be more interest in a mini than a dvd. Well... probably not the minis with my paint jobs :? . But I think maybe next time I want to try to bribe people into a game I may try one of the Furuta Japanese Trek mins. I've got the one of the Pasteur at home and they're pretty nice.

Well... while the demo was fun it didn't draw the amount of people I had hoped. One from the forums here and one other who had seen it advertised on the Games Plus website. Still a good core group to expand from. I think one thing I didn't consider is that everyone who wants TWOK on dvd probably ...

It's only about 8 hours Scoutdad. Trust me I know. I'm a native Nashvillian. Hopefully I'll get back home sometime this summer and might get a chance to slip down to Murfreesboro for a game.

Battlegroup Chicago

Memorial Day (Monday, May 28th) from Noon to 5pm I'll be running a Federation Commander Demo Derby to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Star Trek II and the winner will receive a dvd of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn. Below are the rules which I admit I swiped from Scoutdad on these forums.
