Deceleration Cost

Post by That Don Guy »

2B2b and its example seem to contradict themselves.

The rule says that to decelerate, you "use an Energy Token to buy a Deceleration Point," which leads me to believe that Deceleration always costs 1 regardless of the ship's movement cost. However, in the example, the Frigate with a movement cost of 1/4 pays only 1/4 energy point to decelerate in a sub-pulse.

Is the deceleration cost 1, or 1 MP worth of energy?

There are counters for fractional energy, and since each ship specifically has a deceleration cost box (equal to the MC), I'd use that as the main reference.

Yes; in this case "an Energy Token" might be a 1/4-point Token (or some other number.)

Mike and PC are both correct. It costs 1 movement point worth of energy to decelerate.

For those curious, the cost of a decelartion point is in the rule. It's in parentheses just after the words "decelaration point"

2B2b states:
...buy a "deceleration point" (equal in cost to a movement point)...
