Drones, Romulan Border?

Post by USS Enterprise »

Do any Fed vessels in Romulan Border have Drones? I assume so since nothing CA and below have Plasma I'm told.

Pretty much all Fed ships have a token single drone rack, even the ones in Romulan Border.

Gotta love a weapons system that uses no power and does heavy weapon damage ... if it ever gets through.

Drones are a threat that tells the enemy "go there and you get hurt" or "fail to divert phasers to this threat and you'll get hurt". If they actually hit anything, so much the better.

Having cut my teeth on SFB Kzinti and speed 12 and 20 drones, I learned very quickly how seldom they actually impact a ship... but also quickly learned to use them to "herd" the enemies ships into a desired killing zone.

Drones slow down in SFB? Does that make an inconsistancy?

And what is the fastest speed a starship can go in SFB, and what is normal?

Again, you're only getting part of the picture and making assumptions.
In SFB, drone speed is based on the year the sceanrio takes place.
The first drones developed were speed 12.
Then, as time progressed they developed speed 20 drones...
and finally, speed 32 drones.
The BPV of a ship is based on using Type I, speed 12 drones... beyond that, you must use Commander's Option points (which increase the cost of the unit) to increase speeds, add optional modules, or change from a Type I drone ot an alternate type. The additional cost is paid per drone (not per rack) and the amount of drones that can be upgraded is limited by the scenario year and the limits imposed on each drone using race.

Federation Commander does not have refits, so every drone is a stander, Type I drone with a speed of 24 (since you can't have a baseline speed of 20)
And what is the fastest speed a starship can go in SFB, and what is normal?
The maximum speed is 30 when using warp, and each ship can also use i movement of impusle power... so max speed is 31 - making it impossible to completely out run a Plasma Torpedo.
Also, before you ask... movement cost is roughly the same in SFB... 1 move cost for CA's, 1 1/2 for DN's, etc.

Normal is whatever you consider normal. Out group almost always plots speeds of 20 to 26... unless we plot something different.

Scoutdad,

Don't forget to tell Enterprize that Photons in SFB can only be loaded using Warp Energy ---

Yep, you want to take that AWR refit whenever you can get it :D
