Hit-and-run raid targets

Post by Kang »

Let's say I have a piece of valuable cargo that's small enough to be moved by transporter, and that a Marine unit could theoretically raid and capture it.

My question is, is it possible to hit/run a particular cargo box for a particular item? Can a ship's sensors detect items like that in order to target a hit/run?

Or what about just destroying a particular cargo box in order to destroy a valuable cargo item? Again, can the ship's sensors detect it that well in order to target the H/R?

Or is it all down to the scenario rules, in which case I'm home free 'cuz it's my scenario..... ;)

Sounds like scenario rules to me. Way to specific and "gritty" for normal FedCom; treads into SFB "needs 3 pages of rules for just this one interaction" territory.

We have a winner!

Yeah, it is all scenario rules type stuff. Even in SFB, this is all scenario rules. Many times there will also be a requirement to gather lab points to figure out which hex to H&R. Sometimes there is even minor adjustments to the H&R results table. (Especially around the "succeed and die" result. How does the marine squad successfully capture the item/person if they are all dead?)

I guess one guy could survive and transport back with it in his pocket..... :)

Thanks for your help guys. You may or may not see the scenario in print one day?

We've done things like that before in some "home brew" scenarios.

For the "successful but dead" option we took that to mean that the Marine squad was able to transport the object back, but were killed or captured themselves.
