Jindarians in FC

Post by Targ »

Are we at any point in the future, however distance, likely to see the Jindarians in FC?

Has anyone done any work on them yet?

Although I never played them in SFB I have a few ssd’s some were and the whole concept of space travellers armed with rail guns and using hollowed out ion nickel type asteroids really appeals to me.

Will they ever be done in Federation Commander? Don't know.

Will they be done anytime soon-ish? Probably not.

To the best of my knowledge, no one is currently working on the Jindarians. I have not seen anything from Steve (not that he shows me everything, but I have not even seen any hints of doing the Jindos), and, quite frankly, I have not seen anyone else giving them a try, either.

While I am sure their rules can be moved over in a rather straight-forward manner, there are some things that might not end up working very well in the FC game system. It would probably take a decent amount of effort to make them work right in FC, and they just aren't that popular of an empire. (To be honest, I see more love for the Peladine [a conjectural empire in all but name] and the Borak [who have not even been published yet], than for the Jindarians.)

Out of interest are the original sfb rules for them (the Jin that is) still in publication.

i would like to see them. the metal hulls should be easy. It's the asteroid ships that i am not sure about. As mjwest points out though (since i am one of those asking for them) the Peladine,Carnivon,Paravians and jgrays Borax are higher on my list.

I agree that the metal hulls would be relatively easy to start with. (There are plenty of metal ships out there to fill a would-be ePack.)

The asteroid ships would be another story, but they could wait.

For my part, I'd like to see FC Jindarians, not least because they would be useful in Alpha, Omega and the LMC.

But then, I guess I would say that...

I think it's better to have the empires/races that are all in the same time frame, rather thaninclude anachronisms. So for example the Jindarians would be higher up my priorities list than, say, the Paravians. And Early Years stuff too, for that matter :)

I would have no problem if Svc next week said something along the lines of " hey i had this great idea for the jindo asteroid ships so i think "Rocks attacks " is the next FC item". I do not see this happening anytime soon (as in the next year or 2) but that does not mean we can not kick around some ideas here in this theard. :D

Not before Origins, but I could see doing a preliminary rules converstion and the metal ships in an ePack sometime this fall.

The rock ships might take some more thinking.

I am not soliciting or interested in submissions of conversions and won't support/countenance such things here.
