engines for B10

I just bought the B10 mini kit. It appears I have two variants that I can make. one has a smooth back and the second has an indention. what is the difference between the two variants?

One will allow you to create the standard (as if any BB is standard!) B-10. The second, larger deck house allows you to model the B-10V or B-10S.
The carrier deckhouse is the one on the right:

Geez, no reason to be pedantic. He obviously had a right/left brain fart. He did say it was the bigger one. The carrier one is the one on the left.

Yes, the carrier deckhouse is the taller one.
